Lately I’ve gotten into pixel art after one of my long time old friends invited me to try out his homebrew game. Hes real good at making that kinda shit, 8 years of experience running homebrew systems iirc. Has like 130+ sprites to run his game. His games arent pony related but he asked me if I wanted him to draw my character or if I wanted to do it myself. I thought making him draw my character was asinine since i’m an artfag (though it was nice of him to offer), and I didnt wanna make him put in all the work just cause hes the dm, afterwards I found out I kinda like making pixel art. So I’ve been pixel arting my mrares and a basic generic zombie mare enemy for fun.
One thing I’m struggling with is scale, I am trying to keep these sprites a certain size, since theyre intended to be the kind of sprites you’d use for a homebrew, but I havent been good at keeping them from getting bigger. Poison was small, Whaletail was bigger, Bloona got bigger, then the zombie got bigger. Finally corrected it a bit with Cloudy, dont take these as a guide for sizes or anything I just fucked up with that a bit.
The isometric map is just an experiment, but its inherantly flawed because its grid is lopsided, it curves to one side cause its not made of perfect diamonds. Eventually I would like to stat out the horse lore I made into something playable as a TTRPG, I just struggle to know where to start. I think eventually what I’m going to try to do is make a room with a mare and an enemy mare in it and start from there, iunno.
The actual room in that map is just a dead end of a hedge maze in B3313.
Anyways, pixel mares.
