I had just been walking down the street, browsing my social media feed on my phone and apathetic as ever. I was so distracted that I hadn’t noticed the world around me was slowly changing. Buildings were shifting into grassy hills, and the general hustle and bustle of city life faded into the ether. A weird pulse in my right hand is what ultimately got me to look up at my environment.
“…Whoooaaa, this is… NOT where I just was… And what was wi- why is my hand purple?”
My hand tensed up tighter as I scratched my head, all the while an unexpected bump grew from my back.
“Ugh, I’m probably gonna need to see a doc- mmph??”
The building pressure on my pants got me to look at the growing lump, pulling them down to identify the issue.
“W-what the? Hair? What IS thi- OW!”
My left hand tensed up as well, becoming an identical shade of purple and tightening more rapidly than before.
“Gaah, so -tight-… These almost look like…”
Feeling a flop around my hair, I quickly reached up to feel my two new floppy ears finishing their growth.
“Whoa whoa whoa, nononono! Ears, a tail, and… hooves?? Am I really- GAAAAACK!!”
A sudden sharp crack in my spine made me lose my balance, dropping to the ground. In a panic, I shuffled off all of my clothes, as best I could with my inconvenient new pair of “hands”. The process was made more inconvenient with my arms and legs rapidly reshaping themselves into more horse-like limbs.
“I-It’s all purple? Fur? And my limbs are all deformed now… What on earth is happening??”
I watched in disbelief as my body finally concluded its shifting with one last CRACK in my neck.
“…Is that it? Am I done becoming… a horse, I guess?
I attempted to stand upright again, but failed and fell right back down. My hooves and new skeletal structure wouldn’t allow it.
“Oof… I-I… I guess I’m stuck on all fours for now. Man, that was a trip, though…”
Now that my body had stopped hogging all of my attention, I took the opportunity to look around the area. A passing glance by my rear end made me do a double take.
“What in the…? Alright, the fur makes sense… At least as much sense as this whole scenario CAN make… But why… HOW did these symbols grow on my backside? A moon and a… ghost?”
After a brief pause, the obvious eventually hit me.
“Oh. DUH. Hooves, a tail… and that’s a cutiemark. I must be a pony.”
I struggled to stand up on all fours with my new hooves, but managed to pull it off.
“Which means this must be… Equestria? That’s the name of the place, right?”
I breathed a sigh of both relief at understanding my location, and unease at attempting further movement with this new body.
“I’m gonna have to find some other ponies. Maybe they can help me figure things out. A mirror would be nice too… Haven’t had a way to REALLY see what I look like now…”
I awkwardly picked up my human clothes with my teeth and flung them onto my back. With my shoes, the only option was to slip them over my “hands” and walk them with me. With my possessions in tow, I set out.
“Y’know… one of my online friends had a pony sona. What if he’s here too? Finding him would make understanding life as a pony a WHOLE lot easier. Fingers cro- well… hooves crossed, I guess.”
