this is the updated look for mummies and swamp ponies (I’ll do wolf ponies someday) but i just want to show what i did.
so, the mummy:
this is a male and my ideas were to either show some skin around the eyes, nose and mouth but i choose that only the eyes are exposed not the skin but since people wanted to show the skin around the eyes then i might as well do it but the nose and mouth are covered but i might end up adding a nose whole (that is the same color as the bandages line art) so it won’t bother me
but the mouth is there and in universe, the bandages were but to the mummy can talk.
my other idea is that the tail would be exposed since they would have no hair but since some mummies in photos i seen have hair i might as well add it.
the skin color of the mummies is dark brown due to how mummies in photos look, you know because of decay and then being all dry due to the mummification process, in life they would be just like any pony else.
at this point in time in the AU they barely have any clothing from their time and would have to use rags from abandoned clothing they would have found while traveling or in the old houses they found themselves in but for this artwork i want to show the basic look for the mummies (this would be for females too) so you can get the idea on what they look like.
i think the bandage colors are fairly uniform, they are yellowish in color again due to age but still useable.
for the swamp ponies, this one is male.
i say that green is the most common color, but they come in colors you would expect from a crocodilian with some bright colors.
my idea is that males regardless of color are brighter than females because it shows how healthy a male is.
the body of the swamp pony is based on hippogriffs due to my idea of swamp ponies being runners and since they have ponies in the name, they have hind legs similar to ponies, horses or hippogriffs.
though i was wondering if it’s more realistic if they have legs similar to prehistoric crocodilians but most wanted hippogriff legs and i do to so i choose that, i think it fits.
hands are based on hippogriffs and dragons, hippogriffs for when they are off ground and dragon for when they are on ground, i see swamp ponies as tree climbers so it helps to have hands like that.
scales are based on what i see then i looked at dragons from the show, so did alligators but i did not research further since i only thought about dragons at the moment but oh well i can’t change it now, but the spots are based on the alligators i seen in the show after looking for reference so that helps, same for the line art on the chest and teeth.
even though swamp ponies are based on crocodilians, and they have sharp teeth they are omnivorous, and their noses ate close to the top since they still hunt in water mostly to catch fish.
well i think that is pretty much it, i hope i’ll do wolf ponies soon but until then i hope you like what i did.
