After the disastrous night in Gala, Prince Vladimir Blueblood, Duke of Canterlot, reflected on what Rarity said to him and his behavior and attitude throughout his entire life. He had no idea how right she was; more than a royal pain, he was an insufferable royal ass. Though he wasn’t always pompous and self-centered, Blueblood used to be a colt who craved adventure, who one day wished to travel all around the world, exploring all the known and unknown corners of Equestria. He used to read stories about the daring exploits of notorious adventures and wished to become one of them when he grew up. Even his cutie mark he received when he was a young colt; a compass rose, showing his talent for exploration and land navigation is his talent. But once he grew older, Blueblood was forced to focus on his studies and his responsibilities as a Canterlot noble.
Blueblood’s responsibility as a noble, as well as a prince, has beaten him down, his lust for adventure and prospects of exploring the exotic unknown, was replaced with aired nature of self-centeredness, a demand for undeserved admiration and unearned respect, just another noble snob in the Canterlot elite. Deep within the hidden bowels of his subconscious, he knew it to be true, but such a self-reflection would be heavily suppressed in the lifestyle of sloth and leisure that is typical of most nobles. Drowning in lavish luxuries and feasting on extravagant and exotic delectables, but it was being talked down by this unicorn mare that opened his subconscious and reflect on the sheltered, rotten and deplorable spoiled brat he had become.
So to get back in touch with himself, Blueblood decided that he would no longer be confined within the gilded halls of his palace and instead travel the world and become the adventure he had always dreamed of becoming since he was a starry-eyed foal. Would it be perilous taking a journey that is rot with treacherous perils? Of course, it was; most adventures are, and it wouldn’t be an adventure if there wasn’t a bit of danger involved. Will he come across unsavory and shady individuals? A high possibility, but it would be more pleasant than dealing with the stuff shirt nobles of Canterlot. Will he die, possibly be killed or eaten by a beast, or suffer fates that are worse than death? That is incredibly likely, but he wasn’t the kind of stallion to ever think of such things, he never had been before, but it will probably be the first. Was he out of his league, an ill-thought-out decision based on the thoughts and dreams of when he was a naive fool? Quite certainly, but it was better than lounging around in his homestead of Canterlot, doing nothing other than rudely bossing around his servants and he needed a change of scenery and most importantly, to reevaluate his life, besides, realistically such things were not likely to happen time, as much as the inner childhood colt inside him wish that would be. But despite the adventure he will go on, one not filled with never-ending excitement, full of life-threatening dangers, meeting colorful and exotic people, finding the ruins of forgotten and possibly undiscovered civilizations, running from the ferocious beast, discovering lost and hidden treasures, fighting dastardly villains while holding a voluptuous maiden in his arms, things that were just like in the stories he read as a foal, it would undoubtedly be a life-changing experience and make him into a better stallion he knows he can be. A year-and-a-half into his journey, he certainly got more than he bargained for, but his inner foal is undoubtedly satisfied.
