The surface of the moon was a lonely place.
There were no colors but her own and the many pinpricks of stars and galaxies surrounding her.
Her moon spun slowly, and each inch brought her closer to what she waited for…
The Earth. Its appearance brought the sight of life and happiness into her eyes; yet it also brought tears.
She missed her subjects, she missed the warmth of the sun and all of the colors of the Earth…
But most of all, she missed her other half. Her sister.
It had been so long since she had last saw her…could Luna even remember what she looked like?
She closed her eyes.
Her horn glowed with her memories, and beckoned the stars and galaxies near and borrowed the spectrums from whence they came.
Colors burst from all around her and she remembered.
She pushed her magic as far as it could go, reminiscing in colors that matched her dear sister’s.
She hoped it could reach the surface of the planet Earth, but she couldn’t know for sure if it did.
Maybe someday, her dear sister would look up into the sky, and see the rainbow colors that resembled her own countenance.
Maybe someday, Celestia would remember.
But until then, Luna’s colors would be the only thing to keep the loneliness at bay…
The colors that would soon be known as auroras.
