Dangerous Spell
Small piece of the origin story of Lightning Bliss and Fierly Bliss.
Nervously the white Alicorn looked down on the book which her friend the librarian Aeon gave her. Despite all the Years they had already known each other, LB still couldn’t see behind his true face nor his intentions. She did not know how he got his hands on such a powerful book considering that these kinds of books were usually locked away in a secret room in Canterlot. But she didn’t care now either. This morning her general told her corps that they should prepare for a march to the crystal empire because the royal guards asked for a corps so that they could assure the safety of the last remaining princess and heir to the crown, Princess Flurry Heart.
At first, she was excited because she did not have to fight on a battle field and she got the chance to visit a couple of friends of hers who were working in the capital of the crystal empire. But later that day someone told her that the corps under commander Firebrand were about to take over a city on the old border between Equestria and the Dragonlands. Drachmen, a city where she had friends as well and who might be in potential danger in this very moment.
On the one hoof, she had the duty to serve in her corps. On the other hoof she wanted to protect her friends in Drachmen. This afternoon, after she prepared for the march, she took a walk through the city of Canterlot, trying to find a silent place so she could rethink her next steps. Somehow, she ended up in the library her friend Aeon worked in. After a short, maybe a little unpleasant, conversation, Aeon offered her a book, that could maybe help her. Skeptical, Lightning Bliss accepted his offer. She knew that none of Aeons spells could fix one problem without causing a second one, but she was willing to try it. What’s the worst that could happen?
Sometime around midnight, all of the other soldiers were already sleeping, Lightning Bliss cast the spell Aeon had told her to do. Aeon had, in wise foresight, given her an Amulet which should “power up the whole thing a bit”. Whatever he meant by that (surely had something to do with her unpredictable magic skills), it surely didn’t went as planned. The next morning, Lightning Bliss could not remember what happened the night before. But she knew that something was different. She did feel no anger at Aeon. She wasn’t confused by waking up at some random floor. She was not happy for waking up before Guards could spot her. She felt …. Nothing.
