Original Description:
Inspired by a cunning criminal from the Power Ponies comic book series, Gabby asks Rarity to help design a “Cat Burglar” costume fit for a griffon. After taking a litany of measurements and figuring out how to improvise some wingholes, Rarity finishes the costume only a few days before the festivities. She even nails the cat-o-nine tail-whip the infamous burglar uses to fight her arch-nemesi, the Power Ponies. Excited to start one of her first Nightmare Night outings with a friend, Gabby struts into a spot of light provided by a streetlamp, showing off the design-accurate shiny latex suit. Here’s hoping she can “steal” herself a bag full of treats!
Originally I was aiming for a more ‘cute’ kind of piece and I wanted to do a Catwoman theme, but halfway through the sketch I realized that Catwoman is… kind of designed like a dominatrix. Ha… haha. Dunno if the latex is suggestive at all, but I decided to label it as such just in case. It is rather tightly form-fitting, after all. I actually learned how whip braiding works by drawing Gabby’s tail-whip, so… I guess I could probably actually make a whip? Missing the tools, of course, but I think I have the knowledge now, lol. Soo, as far as the whip part of her costume and its functionality? Yes, yes it does work. All 5 pieces snap when she brings her tail down and flexes it back up quickly. Don’t want to be on the receiving end of that!
Oh, also, this “Cat Burglar” character I’m referencing here has not actually appeared in any of the comics. I just wanted a legally distinct and punny Catwoman type of character to borrow a design from for Gabby’s costume to make it more lore friendly. I think the name works well, yeah?
Anyways, that’s all out of me for this awesome night. Happy Nightmare Night and Halloween once again! Keep it classy, ponefriends ;)
