Backstory: Destiny Blood was born as a dhampir (half unicorn, half vampire) in Canterlot to very loving parents. Her father, Ambrosius, was a landlord who was secretly a vampire, and her mother, Sweetheart Song, was a unicorn who had a talent for singing. Destiny was also born the same day that Vivera Belle was born. At the time, vampires were seen as “evil” in Equestria, and there was a hunt for them. Sweetheart Song had also gone “missing,” and assuming that Ambrosius was responsible for this, the residents of Canterlot decided to hunt him down. One day, when Destiny was only a foal, there was an attack on Ambrosius’s manor. Ambrosius advised Sweetheart Song to escape Canterlot with their daughter for their safety. Together, Sweetheart and Destiny secretly escaped the manor, and out of Canterlot, since Sweetheart knew there was another place for her and her daughter to stay: Ponyville. Destiny had not seen her father in years since the incident.
As soon as Destiny and Sweetheart settled into Ponyville, Sweetheart began dating a Pegasus stallion named Heavy Metal, who was the lead singer of a metal band, except the problem was that he was abusive and alcoholic due to his problems, both professional and personal. Despite the conflict between Heavy Metal and Sweetheart, they managed to give birth to Irene Sky, who would become Destiny’s younger half-sister. Destiny grew very loving of her sister, and despite being emotionally scarred from the abuse Heavy Metal brought upon the family, Destiny couldn’t help but feel sorry for them and wished there was something she could do about it. During this, with the help of Irene, the two sisters took refuge in a shack that was nearby their home. Eventually Sweetheart Song managed to get her daughters out of the abusive environment by reporting Heavy Metal to the authorities.
A couple of years had passed since Destiny’s family last suffered, yet for Destiny, it was incredibly hard for her to cope. She had been depressed almost daily, and even had harmful thoughts. During her depression, Destiny’s colors would turn dull, thus she named this side Destiny Sadness. Irene, despite being very young at the time, realized what Destiny was going through, and decided to get her the help she needed. After searching through several therapists, the sisters managed to find one who could actually help her. As Destiny got into therapy, she also met Grace, who was not only training to become a therapist in the future, but also seeking help after a toxic relationship with her friend named Archwire. Over time, they became very good friends, and Grace’s kindness towards Destiny made her confident enough to start school, where she befriended Bex Rose, Tropical Paradise, Puzzle Peace, and Orange Crush. Despite some rivalry between her and Crystal Cool (though they would make peace with each other later on), Destiny managed to do well at school and eventually passed. Destiny also grew close to Grace’s family, and even became friends with her younger siblings, Feather Dust and Balla Bambina. Besides Grace, Destiny was also good friends with Magic Muse. She also had her first crush, which was Handsome Lullaby, one of Destiny’s favorite singers besides the Pop Angelz. Destiny’s very loving and empathic nature what what made her earn her cutie mark. Thanks to therapy, Destiny also bonded with Irene Sky more often, as she would share stories about the Sharkies, a group of four brothers who mysteriously turned into shark ponies.
As Destiny was becoming older, she was going through some changes just like everyone else would. Destiny was in love with Internet star Cheesy, despite another pony named Sweet Peach, whom she was friends with, loving him. Destiny felt insecure about her looks, so as a result, she dyed the ends of her mane and tail blonde, and pierced her ears. She eventually met Vivera Belle for the first time via a magic mirror, with Vivera telling Destiny that she was perfect the way she was. Destiny at first thought that this was a figment of her imagination until she bumped into Vivera Belle in person one day. Eventually, Destiny won Cheesy’s affections, not because of her looks, but for her kindness and honesty toward him, and they started dating together.
During Destiny and Cheesy’s romance, the former began to learn about “The Special Gems,” which were seven elements used to defeat Spring Cheese, a unicorn stallion who would poison anything that was deemed valuable in his eyes. After a shocking discovery that Cheesy was the grandson of him, Destiny called off the relationship and later went on to date Magic Muse, whom Cheesy often had arguments with. However, Destiny and Cheesy became friends again after Spring Cheese’s defeat.
Destiny and Irene befriended Sweet Peach, Neko Star, Blossom Breeze, Clover Sparks, and Super Pop after realizing they all had a connection with the Special Gems, and together, they all formed the Squad, with Destiny being the leader. They first used them against the Edgelord, who was Cheesy’s dark side that he turned into as a result of his breakup with Destiny. Destiny, despite being the Gem of Love, struggled being in love between Cheesy and Magic Muse. In the end, she realized that it was okay to love both, so she ended up being together with Cheesy and Magic Muse after coming out to them, who both also had mutual feelings for her and put their differences aside.
Destiny also struggled with her identity with who she was, especially since she had not seen her father in years. One day, Destiny decided to change the charm on her necklace. She decided that she wore her Special Gem. Just as she did, however, it magically caused her to have a side other than her sad side: Destiny Vampire. With this side, not only was she able to defend herself and her loved ones from attacks or predators, but also she had the ability to fly. She was able to turn back to her normal side when she chose to, and Destiny did so because she didn’t want to stay a vampire forever. Fully accepting her identity as a dhampir, Destiny has kept her Special Gem with her since.
Whenever the Squad aren’t together, Destiny usually brings love and peace to those that are in need. She helped Grace get together with Handsome Lullaby, and even restored friendships with those who have wronged her in the past. With the help of Irene, Destiny eventually reunites her parents after searching for her long-lost father.
