((This has always been one of my favorite small scenes in the show. It helps that this was basically the first pony episode after I had started Genie Twilight. So to not only have a scene like this along with Spike ultimately being the one that manages to save the day. It gave me more confidence in giving Spike an important role in the blog. The Crystal Empire as a whole isn’t my favorite two-parter, but I will always appreciate any moment that solidified Twilight and Spike’s relationship as something special.

While siblings can also have fears of being left by eachother, it feels like fear of abandonment is more frequent of children with their parents. It helped give me a sense that I wasn’t wrong to start pushing things to a direction just a whole year after starting I Dream of Twilight Sparkle for Twilight and Spike to consider eachother mother and son.

This is also the first time in a long while that I’ve done either unicorn genie Twilight or Spike without his scar (And the dragon tear necklace) from Return to Saddle Arabia. A little nostalgic in that way. Though I’ve always been one alright with Alicorn Twilight, and I loved giving IDOTS Spike some unique features to help him stand out more))
