Original Description:
Discord turned off the TV and picked up his book. For the last month it seemed that the TV along with the radio and newspaper had not stopped talking about the upcoming Equestria Games. It also seemed to be on the mouths of every pony in Ponyville. In fact Rainbow Dash wouldn’t stop to talk about it, or the trip to the Crystal Empire that was planned.
Discord failed to see what the big deal was, but ponies could get worked up over the strangest things. Fluttershy was excited to go, and only grudgingly had Discord agreed to come along after his wife had made pouty faces at him.
The draconequus had snapped his fingers willing his reading glasses and a cup of tea into existence when the love of his life came wandering in through the front door of her, correction their, cottage. In spite of having some his chaos magic permanently granted to her as a wedding gift, the chiffon yellow mare kept many of her older habits. Like walking or flying when she could instantly teleport almost anywhere now.
It was apparent to Discord that she’d been shopping in town by the half dozen bags hanging from her arms. This piqued his curiosity because unlike her friend Rarity the Element of Kindness really wasn’t into shopping like the fashionista was. Noticing her husband the pegasus mare smiled at him.
“Oh! Hello dear! She began unpacking the bags. Some things were obvious. Groceries and supplies for her menagerie animals, but then she pulled something different from a bag. It looked to the Lord of Chaos to be a giant cat toy. A 2ft long rod with about 10ft of pink, satin-looking ribbon attached to one end of the rod. He peered over his glasses. “Is that some gift for Opalescence?”
Fluttershy grasps the rod and gave it a twirl causing the ribbon to dance like some satin serpent in the air. She looked at her husband and smiled. “Heh, heh! No silly! It’s a dance ribbon that rhythmic gymnasts use for some of their floor routines.”
She pirouetted in place as the ribbon swirled around her. Discord arched an eyebrow. “Pretty, but I that’s hardly reason for all the hype?”
His wife scowled at him. “Discord! Trust me. It’s much more that just that! It takes hours practice and discipline to truly master it.” Then she arched her back and in one smooth motion raised her left leg up over her head and grabbed it with her right hand. All the while twirling the ribbon with her left hand. She smiled at him.
“It also requires stamina and flexibility as well.” She said.
Discord was suddenly much more interested in the games.
This is one of the drawings I started during my most recent Picarto streams. The theme of the stream was the Olympic games, and while I was finishing this drawing this is the story that popped into my head.
