My internet friend here, ichiban-iceychan1517, gave me the idea to do this reference sheet for Count Contralto ^^. And y’all do need this for context, as I haven’t really gotten much into detail for him, well at least regarding his transition. So here ya go!

Pre-Trans:
When Rara was a young gal, she was always down to earth and loved outdoorsy stuff; perhaps that’s her earth pony coming out. At first, this didn’t really seem too different for her, as she enjoyed frolicking, picking flowers and collecting ladybugs like any other filly. However, she really started to know her discomfort for girly things when her mother would dress her up like a doll for holidays. Not because she would feel embarrassed, or preferred a bigger and better dress, it was because she purely hated it. It felt like she was getting forced into something that she shouldn’t. As if she was a boy getting forced to wear a tutu and makeup. It was humiliating. And that’s when she started to feel like a boy tripped in a girl’s body. No matter how many dolls and stuffed animals her mom would spoil her with, Rara would always prefer to be outside and dared not to play with them. But, if she did stay her tail inside, she would gravite to her fathers studio room where he played and practiced his music. Her father was a guitarist in an urban pop rock band, as he performed in their village’s hotspot. So, it wasn’t too long that Rara wanted to take after her father, and did. Her mother too had a musical touch too, for piano and soft singing, but it wasn’t her strong suit. That was the only aspect that Rara liked about her mother, music, it was her simple enjoyment.
But that’s besides the point. Rara dreamed of normalizing herself for doing boyish things that girls may find not girly, like roughhousing, playing in the mud and whatnot. Sometimes she would beg her dad into playing catch with her, and he would. Her mother caught on to this behavior and disliked this rowdy trait about her. Her mother didn’t understand Rara’s reasoning, and only thought that Rara was just being an untamed girl. So she tried to keep Rara from dirtying up herself everyday and teach her how to be more ladylike. She succeeded in doing so as Rara was also taught to be obedient and listen to others. However, this personality trait would be her downfall. To clarify things a bit more, Rara’s mother is a unicorn, and if you would know (especially in my headcanon), unicorns are notorious for beautiful and unearthly color schemes, with silky and sheen coats. And thus, they are expected to keep it that way, or better; especially mares. And to her surprise, Rara was born with such a beautiful mane and coat, that at first glance, some may mistaken her as a unicorn. It was just a tendency, as a unicorn, from her mother to try and reprimand Rara from doing such boyish and ridiculous things. The only outdoorsy thing now that she allowed her to do was go to Friendship Camp just to make friends, and that’s it.
At every Friendship Camp (which was all summer, every summer), she would befriend a rowdy orange earth pony that we all know to be AJ. She would become close friends with her as they exchanged addresses and started writing letters when camp was over; they became penpals. After a while, Rara only truthfully came out and told AJ about her feelings regarding her gender. She was actually at least tempted to tell her dad (as he didn’t seem to have a problem with her acting boyish at all), but she feared that he may tell mom about it. So this secret was secret safe in between AJ and Rara.

Once Rara became a teen, she slowly started to become known by the public with her new songs, as she strived to become a popstar. She only started singing in the hotspot that her father performed at. But, it so happened that a pony, a stallion by the name of Svengallop was snooping around town to town in search of a potential popstar. And he hit the jackpot once he found himself, Rara. “She’s a rare sight. Her voice is nice and sweet, pretty and tender, but she can be so much more,” Sven thought to himself. Thus, he trotted himself over to the aquamarine pony and her father and persuaded them both to let Rara join his music training. I mean, Svengallop was a music coach after all… but also a director. Rara was stoked as one of her dreams was potentially going to come true… except for one of them. Poor Rara still kept herself in the closet, as she continued to let others tell her what to do. Her obedience was getting the best of her.
Much more development happened to Rara with her singing career. Svengallop trained her, used her to be a pop star; a beautiful sight, the main attraction. He made her to be somepony with much razzle dazzle and glitz and glam. Somepony that Rara doesn’t want to be, yet strived to be, except she’s putting on an act; at least with her gender that is. She hates what she has put herself into, but didn’t want to disappoint anypony. All of this kept her distracted from writing to AJ now…. She was lost.
But finally, once upon meeting AJ again, AJ had already known that something was up. After getting to know Rara again since forever, AJ still knew that Rara wanted to be herself, and change herself to be the pony she wants to be and not some mainstream Lady Gaga chick. It’s just that ponies like her mom, Svengallop, her fans, ‘herself’ kept her from doing that, keeping her from being the man that is inside of her. But with the help from AJ and friends, she was able to finally get out of the hold and the pressure from Svengallop. This scenario, only made her feel more free, more stronger and confident in herself to push through the grasp of her mothers thoughts, her fans thoughts and even hers, to finally come out as a stallion! Now the song that Rara sang at her last performance has a WHOLE different meaning now, doesn’t it.
After getting herself together, she finally came out as trans to the public! 🏳️⚧️ The Equestrian society was 50/50 about his change. But guess what, regardless of what ponies thought of him now, he was content and happier now.
Post-Trans:
Count Contralto was his new name, and he would now be a part of a travelling pop rock band (as one of the lead vocalist and guitarist) and personally do acoustic music (playing a guitar, or a piano). His new band was of course inspired by his dad. Gladly, most of his past fans sucked it up and supported him and his new band. Though he was a late bloomer, he’s transition was convincing enough to attract many fangirls. He would also become a big trans advocate for the LGBTQ+ community in Equestria.
Other Stuff About Rara

-He is a straight trans man, and loves himself some women. He will flirt with a lot of them (like fans and such) but only has had a ONS the Sapphire Shores over here. 😏
-Looks like a biker. Is a biker.
-As a human, he is Southern European, Italian to be more exact. He goes to the gym regularly to keep a muscular built body to make him appear more manlier! 💪 He is a 5’5ft wonder!
-Yes he married his child friend, AJ. Because, honestly, without her, he wouldn’t have transitioned. He has a son, Golden Russet (though biologically not his, but he says who cares), and loves his new family to DEATH! (Would pummel Caramel out of commission if he wanted to….)
