Long ago Fluttershy would have never imagined herself doing this, but by now it was routine. Something she greatly looked forward to, actually. Every hatchling season in the dragon lands, she made a point of going up to welcome the little babies into the world. They were as cute as fluffy baby bunnies and she was thrilled to meet them! The adult dragons no longer intimidated her so she’d come a long way.
 
Her wife, however, held a different outlook.
 
“No please! You can’t go! It’ll be too dangerous!”
 
Marble Pie dragged across the floor, desperately gripping her wife’s back legs like a defiant little filly.
 
“Don’t worry honey, I’ll be okay,”
 
Fluttershy reassured her in her usual soft tone, trying to gently shake herself free of Marble’s grasp.
 
“Twilight made sure I had all of the safety precautions in place. Besides, I do this every year and I’ve always come back safe and sound, right?”
 
Marble wasn’t reassured at all by this, tightening her grip on her wife.
 
“B-but there was that time half of your mane was burnt off! Next time it won’t be your mane! This is the dragon lands, you could get EATEN!”
 
“Dragons don’t eat—“
 
Fluttershy shook her head at Marble’s prejudiced comment. She loved her wife and tried to make things as easy as possible as her, but she didn’t have time to deal with this today. So with one swift pull, she freed her hind legs and spoke sternly.
 
“Marble. I am going to the dragon lands. It will only be one week, and I will be safe. I’ll be back before you and our little Piper Bird know it, okay?”
 
Marble sat back dejectedly since there was no point in protesting now.
 
“Mmhm…”
 
Fluttershy’s stern tone immediately switched to her usual soothing hum as she made to leave.
 
“Alright, take care honey! I’ll bring you a surprise when I come back!”
