Here is my take on Princess Celestia, or rather in my personal universe, Queen Celestia.

It really didn’t sit well with me that she willingly gave up her role as leader of Equestria and ruler of the raising of the sun to… retire. If her special talent was so closely tied to raising the sun, why would she just hop along and leave that to Twilight? It just doesn’t make sense to me.

So, in my universe (which I am going to call Doeverse until I come up with something more clever), she takes on the title of Queen, not giving up her duties of the royal leader and ruler of the sun. She does leave her school to Twilight as headmare, and leave Canterlot to Twilight to run while she is away. Celestia takes up for her inadequacy in the many years she has been ruler to reach out to the other kingdoms and forge stronger bonds with them, striving for a stronger peace and to help continue to spread friendship.

I also really never got… Sun, from Celestia’s design. Or regality. So I wanted to change up her colors a bit to read more like a sun goddess would. All the colors I used came from personal photographs I have taken of the sunrise around where I live, wanting to tie in those mane colors she originally had. They did make some kind of sense but not completely. And I made her more of an orangey-pink instead of a stark white and pink.

Overall I wanted her to feel like a calm and brilliantly radiant morning. I hope that comes across <3

I will probably do all the princesses first before I move onto the rest of the mane six. So Luna would be my next task for a redesign, I have a few sketches, I just havent finalized anything yet.
