What started off as me screwing around with the chrysalis base model, turned into me making a “hive starter kit”, which then ended up becoming this. Desert Buggos for all!

And now for hastily made up lore!

“Situated in an old desert ruin, the Scarab Hive is a smaller offshoot of the base changeling line. Led by their queen, Oasys. This variant hive is seemingly made up only of females, the members of the hive use trickery and temptation to lure in males when the time comes to expand the hive. These males are usually treated well, and released once they are no longer needed, no worse for wear other than maybe being quite “drained”.

While the roles the members play in the hive are not chosen from birth, the hive generally will put those who would best fit the role in it. (IE: Muscular/larger changelings as guards, lithe ones as drones/helpers, Etc). At the same time, a hive member can swap their current role if need or want be.

Usually only once a year will there be more eggs lain to expand the hive. Oasys does not want to expand the hive rapidly to help keep the resource management under control. Due to the remote nature of the hive, modern luxuries are a rarity. The few that the hive has, are generally saved for use by the years breeders, their wards, or for use to take care of the growing hatchlings.”
