It didn’t take long for Primrose to find out what had happened as she followed Discovery to his hiding place. After searching around their mansion, she found her husband in the bathroom, curtains drawn, staring at himself in the mirror.
“Discovery, mon amour, I looked everywhere for you! Are you alright?”
“No…” Discovery uttered through ragged breaths, trying to keep his tears of shame from falling. “I-I mean, don’t worry about me-“ he backtracked. “I’ll be jus’ fine.”
“You are clearly not fine!” Primrose turned on the lights and approached him. “Sugar Honey told me what happened. Do you want to talk about it, cherie?”
“I couldn’t help it,” Discovery hung his head in defeat. “Everythin’ was just so loud and overwhelmin’, I wasn’t thinkin’ straight. I didn’t even know what I’d done till it was too late. I couldn’t face ‘em any longer. So I came here. Didn’t want to embarrass you more than I already did…”
Primrose shook her head. “Embarrassing me should be the least of your worries! I am not embarrassed by you, mon cherie. I am more embarrassed at myself for leaving you in such an uncomfortable situation.”
Discovery sighed. “I can’t help bein’ on the spectrum, them dinner parties have always been hard for me. But I want you to be happy, love. And I know they make you happy, no matter how much I hate ‘em.”
“My happiness should not come at the expense of yours!” Primrose pleaded. “This is not what our marriage should be! You should have talked to me about this much sooner. And I should have noticed how you felt, I should not have been so thoughtless. I want you to be happy as much as you want me to be happy, mon amour!”
Discovery simply looked down in shame.
Primrose lowered her voice to a more gentle tone. “Tell me, do you miss your home?”
Discovery nodded. “More than anything…”
Primrose held his face up until he was looking her in the eye. “Then we’re moving.”
“I couldn’t ask that of you, dear-“
“You are not happy here, Discovery. I will not let you live your life in misery for my sake. We will buy a nice house, and we can find the best of both worlds in Ponyville, for sure. But here, that is simply impossible.”
“You really want to do this for me?”
“Yes, I do,” Primrose affirmed. “For you, and for all of us. It will be a nice change for you and me, and for Rose and Windy. We will be happy there. Wouldn’t you like to go home, mon cherie?”
Discovery smiled, feeling relieved for once. “I would love that, dear.”
Primrose grinned back. “Then Ponyville, here we come!”
