Dunno if anyone remembers my old story project Nightfall. Looking back at it now, I sure hope no one does, I sooooo sucked at English back then :paranoid:

Anyways, decided to ponify this old concept, just for fun. Nightfall was an attempt to create a being worthy of being used in spooky stories. Was fun working on it again and see if I could tweak design and style a bit more for the spooky. Might draw it again in its non-pony form too. I have always liked Nightfall, even if I never get around to finish its official story.

A scarecrow with, in this case, the remains of a dead pony hidden within its form of hay, rags and sticks. During the night hours it stalks the land for its prey. Searching for revenge for its untimely death. Any pony foolish enough to stand in its way will immediately get cut down on the spot and left for dead as it’ll continues on its search.
When it died it made a deal with the shadows crawling forward to talk to it. To become their puppet so it could walk the earth and claim the life of the one who took its own life. In return the shadows would receive its soul for whatever such things need that for. But this creature learned that the way you word your deals and promises can have unforeseen consequences.
“When the last drop of his blood as soiled the ground…”
Nightfall searches for the blood to spill that belonged to the stallion that wronged it. Anypony possessing that blood, no matter how thin the last drop may be. The deal won’t be complete until the very last drop has been spilled.

Nightfall can only travel after night has fallen. The sun will make it unable to move and turn it into a normal scarecrow, until the sun sets and allows the shadows to reclaim control over their immobile puppet. And the search continues. It’s wooden parts make it move slow and stiffly, unless it gets motivated by the sight of its prey to force the aching joints to move faster.

I had this done quite fast, having fun with now knowing how to digitally colour a pencil sketch. Weeeh! I’m quite happy with the result and it was fun working on Nightfall again. Really wanna use it some more. As I say about all my concepts.
