Nickname(s): -
Species/Gender: Alicorn/Female
Mark/Talent: Snowflake with the Crystal heart in the center. Represents her bond with the Crystal Empire, and her ability to connect to and empathise with other people.
Personality: Paranoid. But also nice to a fault and too forgiving. Not really timid or insecure, just easily scared. Doesn’t really care what people think of her, as long as they’re not planning on hurting her or others.
Important relationships:
Cadence (Mother) - She knows that Cadence loves her and all, but she feels somewhat like that love is dependent on her being “the perfect princess”. Whenever they spend time together, it always seems to end up with her giving Flurry lessons and advice about being a ruler
Shining Armor (Father) - He’s very protective of her, and a lot of the time they spend together is focused on him teaching her how to defend herself. She feels a bit like he thinks she’s made of glass.
Luminous Spirit (Younger Brother) - He’s alright. He’s very distant, but polite; he’s like that with everyone though, so she tries not to take it personally.
Diletto (Younger brother) - He’s nice, and she loves him, but they don’t spend very much time together nowadays outside of working on projects together.
Felicity (Younger sibling) - The same as Diletto, they’re alright, but not extremely close.
Fire Aurora (Younger Sister) - Flurry knows her little sister is having trouble with making friends and not being antagonistic towards everyone, so she tried her best to be there for her. They often go flying together.
Faerie Sky (Youngest Brother) - Flurry find him extremely adorable, and loves to spend time with him. He still has that childhood innocence, and one of the few ponies who doesn’t know what happend in her past, thus making him very easy to relax around.
History:
At first, Shining Armor and Cadence were ecstatic to be expecting a foal; they both liked children, they had a strong, happy marriage and were in a relatively stable environment (well, as stable as you can get in equestria at the time, they suppose). But then problems started; let’s just say, having a fully developed horn with a sharp point, isn’t something you want inside you. It got to the point where the doctors had to consider terminating the pregancy in order to keep Cadence safe. She was kept under constant surveillence, and luckily made it to the point where Flurry could be safely removed via c-section. They kept the problems secret from their families, figuring that there was nothing they could do anyway, and didn’t feel like taking on the emotional burden of reassuring them on top of everything that was going on.
After she’s born there’s much celebration, some catastrophies, a few near deaths… you all saw the episode.
As a child, she had about as normal a childhood that an alicorn can have; she went to a ordinary primary school, had friends, some annoying younger siblings… all in all, fairly well adjusted. Then Aunt Twilight visisted, bringing along her baby daughter Moonstone. Noone is quite sure what happened, as Flurry refuses to speak about it, but both her and Moonstone ended up kidnapped for several days before Cadence and Twilight found and rescused them. The result of this was that Moonstone’s horn was broken, and Flurry traumatised. She withdrew from everyone around her, and grew increasingly paranoid and fearful of other ponies. In the end, Cadence and Shining Armor decided to send her to Twilight school for a while, hoping that not being in the Crystal Empire, while still being with family in a welcoming environment would help some. It was the right call, as Flurry managed to gain freinds again, and finally started to open up to a therapist. She stayed there full time for a couple of years, before starting to travel home for longer and longer streches of time to be with her family, and to get to know her little sister Fire Opal (later, Fire Aurora) who was born while she was away.
Due to all of this, she got her cutie mark very late in life. Trying to reconnect to her home, she’d started to volunteer at places to help the crystal ponies; helping school-foals with homework, taking care of elderly ponies, helping out at hospitals, etc. And she, she likes other ponies. She is still afraid, but she likes to talk to them, to learn about them, to help them. And one day, as she was listening to an elderly mare talk about what the Empire was like in her youth, her mark suddenly just appeared. She probably would have missed that anything happened, hadn’t the other pony started to choke on her biscuit in suprise over it.
She currently lives in the castle, somewhat acting as an inofficial third leader of the empire; her parents usually let her handle a lot of the routine tasks, and consult her on important decisions. When she’s not doing that, she continues with her volunteering, and sometimes helps Diletto and Felicity in their projects to promote physical and mental health. She still has a lot of problems herself which she sees a therapist for, but she feels more and more confident as time goes on.
