Angel sets the bar for silent supporting characters. Besides the art and the animation, I am always impressed by the quality of the writing in this show. And since that particular skill is the bulk of what I bring to the table for this comic, I find that the bar is set pretty high.

DM: Let’s focus. Fluttershy, tell the others about your animal companion.
Rarity: <gasp!> You finally got yourself a…?
Fluttershy: Yes. When I leveled up-
Rarity: That’s wonderful! Why, it’s perfect for your character!
Pinkie Pie: Hey, what about Animal Empathy? Don’t you want to be friends with ALL the animals?
Fluttershy: Well, I still have that, but…
Rarity: It makes perfect sense! Such a shy but kind caretaker needs a strong, silent partner to create the ideal counterpoint! I can see it now: Fluttershy accompanied by a silver wolf, or a big brown bear!
Twilight Sparkle: Well, that’s assuming she picked the Spring or Summer aspects of the Natural Cycle…
Fluttershy: Oh, um, I didn’t pick any of those options… I talked to the DM, and…
