Artist’s comment:
 
Finally managed to finish this, my version of a next generation mane 6. I read somewhere that for the next generation of mlp they would want to have more complex stories as well as having there be a greater divide between the different sub species of pony. It was that as well as the original concept drawings of the next gen mane 6 (I can find the link for it :( ) that inspired me to draw this.
 
Here’s some brief descriptions of what I was thinking when I was drawing this.
 

 
Pinkie Pie:  
Very similar character wise as before, except now she’s a Pegasus. Constantly buzzing around thriving off the enjoyment and happiness of ponies around her Pinkie has to keep herself occupied at all times.
 
Fluttershy:  
Again, very similar except now she’s a Unicorn. My biggest difference would be that she’s a tad less shy in the normal sense. Fluttershy just tends to feel much more at one with nature and with the animals and now that she’s got magic she spends a lot of time in the forest healing the wildlife around her. I can imagine her almost taking over Zecoras character, brewing potions and living in a hut, hidden away from most other ponies.
 
Applejack:  
Applejack is still very family oriented however she doesn’t see eye to eye with her family as much now. While they’re very stuck in their traditional ways she sees the potential for change - like remember when Flim and Flam introduced the super speedy cider squeezy 6000? That episode always annoyed me because, let’s be honest, until it was forced to go into over drive it was muuch more efficient than the entire apple family doing the work by hand.
 
Twilight sparkle:  
I’m actually really excited at the prospect of twilight being an earth pony. Instead of her character being so centred around her having these magical powers, now it’s purely her intelligence and drive that makes her so special. Twilight is fascinated by the cosmos and a keen scientist, always creating new inventions in the hopes of being able to explore them. In gen 5 I imagine that earth ponies live in almost steam punkish cities if that makes any sense? They are stronger than unicorns or pegasi but due to their lack of conventional magic they have relied on science to progress. To me twilight would be a great character to embody this new concept.
 
Rainbow Dash:  
Rainbow is now more cool in the ‘chill’ sense. She doesn’t get as hyped up over the little things. Rainbow is extremely talented but doesn’t really enjoy the pressure of competition. If needed by her friends she’ll be they’re no problem but otherwise is generally more comfortable cloud surfing in solitude.
 
Rarity:  
I imagine rarity comes from a very regal unicorn family this gen. She has so many expectations of her to ensure she gives a good impression of her family when all she really wants to do is let her mane down and explore the great outdoors. For me unicorns would use magic a lot more this gen and we would see enchantment a lot. The ring she has around her horn for example is a priceless family heirloom enchanted centuries ago.
 

 
I hope you like my concepts but if you don’t please don’t get too worked up :p this is obviously just meant to be my own ideas.
 
This also isn’t me saying I’m glad that mlp has ended for now :( I almost can’t believe it, but I’m glad they didn’t drag it on for the sake of it and I think it’s important to give whatever comes next a chance.
