“It’s good to see you too,” Di responded with a grin of his own. Honestly, this was one of the meetings he’d been looking forward to. Even though the stallion spent half his time in Ponyville these days, Trenderhoof was still a celebrity. As such, he was someone Diamond Charm could relate to. The same couldn’t really be said about the other ponies here. Sure, Twilight and the rest of her group were famous, but they didn’t exactly live the same lifestyle. Even his mother was a bit more down to earth than a lot of the ponies Diamond Charm was used to associating with. “I’m not going to lie, moving to Ponyville after living in Manehattan for so long has been a bit daunting. It’s comforting to see a familiar face.”
“I can imagine. There’s quite a difference between Ponyville and Manehattan. It’s a shame that I won’t be seeing anymore of your plays,” Trenderhoof commented, “one of the highlights of my job was going to see them and being able to pretend that it was work.”
“I mean, you did write up articles on them so it was actually work,” Di responded with a laugh. Despite his outward attitude on the subject, Trenderhoof’s words had made Diamond Charm a bit gloomy. He was going to miss being in those plays more than anypony could know.
“Fair enough,” Trenderhoof replied. “Anyway, have you met my son yet?”
Ah, that’s right! Trenderhoof had a son! If Di recalled correctly, they should be about the same age too. The more Diamond Charm thought about it, the more excited he got. If Trenderhoof’s son was anything like his dad, they should be able to get along. “I haven’t. I would like to meet him though.”
“I’ll go get him then. Wait here for just a second.”
That said, Trenderhoof wandered off. Diamond Charm was only left alone for a few moments before Trenderhoof came back with a small stallion that Di did in fact recognize.
“This is my son, Apple Trend,” Trenderhoof said, wrapping a hoof around his son’s shoulder. “Trend, this is Diamond Charm. He’s quite the talented actor.”
Oh boy. The annoyed look on Trend’s face told Di he hadn’t forgotten about their earlier meeting in the marketplace. Still, not wanting to bring attention to that in front of Trenderhoof, Diamond Charm proceeded as if that exchange had never happened. “I-It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“Is it?” Apple Trend replied bluntly.
Trenderhoof nudged him, indicating that he should act friendlier.
With a sigh, Apple Trend rolled his eyes and said, “I guess it’s nice to meet you too.”
“There now! I’m sure the two of you will be best friends in no time!” Trenderhoof said, pulling them both in for a hug. Diamond Charm was not nearly as optimistic.
