Description

“Lucky timing I got in just as the snow started, don’t think I’m ready to go throwing ya out into adverse weather just yet. Still, engines seem to’ve not burst into flames, landing gear didn’t collapse, even weren’t so bad about yaw despite the lack of a vertical stabilizer and all. Ain’t no Stork, but I feel like you ’n me are gonna do well with each other…”

Snowfall always tends to slow things down at the Ponyville Aerodrome, especially for the more experimental craft being flown out of there. The latest plane landed not too long ago was a little number that Night Strike’s taken to naming the Swallow, in no small part on account of it’s heavy resemblance to the nimble insect-eating bird often seen swooping around lawnmowers at work. Much like it’s namesake, the Swallow’s no slouch when it comes to maneuverability, and with a pair of specially-insulated axial-flow cider-burning jet turbines giving this bird thrust, she can put on the speed where needed too. Biggest sacrifice is in payload capacity - while the Swallow does have an internal stowage bay and enclosed fuselage (a big step up from the Stork’s open-plan cockpit seating), it’s barely spacious enough to fit a single 250kg warhead, making the craft a bit unsuitable for courier usage.

For the pegasus who loves getting a bit of speed on, though, this bird does her just fine~
