“Nothing went the way we planned it,”
“But we don’t have to understand it no”
“All we know is where we are landed.”
“The sky is magic.”
“A glowing indigo.”~ 🎶🎶
The inspiration was kindled by the song called Indigo, produced by DoubleV. It’s a love song actually, but the lyrics somewhere strongly express what I want to tell in this work. Go check the lyric video here!I felt sort of heartbreak when spike said he had to leave because he got wings. For spike himself, the relationship between him and Twilight is really special, which is higher than friendship and very close to a family bond. Spike sure doesn’t want to leave. For so many years they’ve been through, Twilight is already his sky of mind, already his glowing indigo.Indigo, such a color that connotates a little bit of sadness and reluctance, became a special part of my composition.I’d like to merge some emotions with color. It is very interesting to place strokes and feel the emotions simultaneously. Though it might be a little exaggerated, I did turn sad for a while when depicting his face, even I worked not quite right on the expression.Though the process of rendering details has not been fresh to me, I still got a new challenge on that in this work. I want to bring out the material that a dragon’s skin might have and keep my strokes exposed on them too. Honestly, I still can’t handle various expressions of materials. Then plus the not-so-get-used-to way of using strokes, it was quite overwhelming for me. That was tough but I’ve tried as possible as I can to make it looks good. Also I tried another way to place colors. It may looks different from I usually do. For focusing on this, I didn’t work well on the color balance, which I normally care much about. That’s a point that I should review myself.Anyway, good to make it done as I planned. Hope you enjoy and if you have any critique, feel free to throw it in comments.
