Spent most of my time in the past week making some clothing for Coloratura (finally), and it’s lookin’ pretty good.
 
The leather shirt is simple enough, it shares the topology of the body and bends with her body nicely without clipping for the most part. The more interesting part is the transparent silk skirt. It’s entirely simulated, which is a first for one of my renders or animations.
 
The cutie-mark is also finally able to glow. Most of the glare was done in compositing, but the cutie-mark is actually lit up pretty bright in the raw render. It actually caused quite a bit of nasty noise and fireflies around the small light source as well as inside the mouth. I had to manually smear the noise away in GIMP due to how severe it was despite the high sample count and the denoiser being active.
 
 
So yeah, this render is kind of a little teaser for something I’ve been working on that I’m almost ready to present. This pose isn’t used in it, but it will be a 20 second section of The Magic Inside fully animated with just Coloratura and her piano.
 
It won’t be using the Apple Stage set yet. While it isn’t finished, the more important reason I’m not using it yet is because it’ll dramatically increase the total render time per frame due to how much detailing there is. So it’ll instead be using the same purple background that I’ve been using for Coloratura for a couple weeks now.
