“Now Astral, my dear I cannot express my delightttttttt, it’s abundantly clear that somewhere out there, is the pet that will suit you just rightttttttt%” shot
Spoilers, it was a Star Spider. X3 It may seem like the most obvious but I think it’s a choice that fits very nice. They are interesting creatures and I could see Astral trying to find out all she could about them. X3 I couldn’t find a Star Spider base that I liked, that species seriously needs more love! So I drew out a Star Spider on my own% I might make it into a base if people want it, who knows. This was the second of the two based pictures, and my forth and last entry!

Astral found her pet Star Spider, Glimmer, while exploring around the Everfree Forest. She really wanted to go into the forest but she knew how dangerous at was, and had promised her Mother she’d never go in there alone. However today she was exceptionally curious and against her Mothers wishes, she stepped past the tree line and into the forest. Before she got very far though, the little Star Spider appeared to her, hanging by a thread of silk stuck to a branch above her head. “Well hi there little guy!” she said to the Spider. It waved a tiny leg at her as a hello, then climbed down to the ground and began scurrying back in the direct Astral came from. “Wait for me little buddy, where are you going?” she said, following the spider back out into the clearing outside of the forest. As she stepped back past the tree line she heard snarling in the distance, Timber Wolves. “Wow, if I was still in there I would’ve been a gonner, did you lead me here to save me?” she asked the spider. The spider lifted himself up, and as though he were taking off a top hat with one of his tiny legs, he bowed to Astral. “Well, aren’t you silly!” she giggled, picking up the spider carefully. “Wana come see my house? It’s really safe there, and my Mother is super nice.” The spider nodded his head up and down in agreement.
When they arrived at her home she ‘showed’ her Mother the spider by placing him on her hoof. She shuttered for a moment, realizing what it was that she was holding, but then felt better once she felt the spider tap something strange on her hoof. Using his many legs he tapped out a message in braille, touching them on her hoof the way she might feel the bumps on paper. “NICE TO MEET YOU” was the message that was tapped out. “Well, nice to meet you too, uhhhh…” Eclipse said, not knowing what to call the spider. “I’m gunna name him Glimmer, I’d like to keep him if that’s okay, he’s so fascinating. Not only that, but he saved me from some Timberwolves!” Astral said.
“Wait, TIMBERWOLVES? Did you go into the Everfree forest.” Eclipse said, fear in her voice.
“Oh uhhh…. no no of course not I was just outside of it looking in you see Mother…. They were coming and he warned me of them so we came home. Yeah.” Astral lied, not wanting to worry her Mother. Despite being an adult now her Mother still worried about her the same was she did when she was a filly.
“Hmmph, you’re lucky then.” Eclipse said, calming down. “As for keeping, Glimmer, I guess this is a special case since he saved you and all, and he does seem very smart for a spider. Why not, welcome to the family Glimmer.”
Astral bounced around excitedly. “Hurray, thanks Mom!” from there, Glimmer became a welcome addition to their little adoptive family. He helps with dishes and chores, and keeps Astral company when she is outside star gazing. Astral loves to study the spider, she finds all that he can do very interesting. Eclipse sees a bit of her in Astral when she watches her do this, despite not being blood relation. It reminds her of when Astral was a foal, when she would sit for hours with the foal just to look at her, and see what she was doing, as well as finding out more about what she could and couldn’t do. Astral found that Glimmer was able to glow in the dark, he is an excellent night light when Astral is reading outside at night.
