Personality/Background:  
Starswirl is the only son of Twilight Sparkle and Flash Sentry. He grew up with both of his parents in Ponyville and currently resides in Canterlot as a prince-in-training under Princess Celestia. Despite only being a unicorn, Starswirl has the ambitious dream of becoming a full-fledged alicorn and ruling his own kingdom one day.
 
He practices magic on a daily basis. In fact, he is on a very strict training schedule, waking up early in the morning to study and going to bed super early to be well-rested. Starswirl tends to be obsessed with his calendar and following it to a T. If anyone disrupts his strict schedule, Starswirl’s whole day will be thrown off, and he basically turns into a raging manticore.
 
Starswirl, despite being the son of the princess of friendship, does not have many friends. His closest friends are: Crosswind (Rainbow Dash’s kid), Lightning Spark (Rarity’s kid), Jinx (Fluttershy’s Kid), and Cookie Batter (Pinkie Pie’s kid). He finds that he likes being alone most of the time, similar to the way young Twilight Sparkle was. However, he does force himself to hangout and meet new ponies. If he wants to rule a kingdom one day, he knows that he has to know how to interact with others.
 
When he moved to Canterlot Castle for prince training, Celestia assigned him his own guards to ensure his safety. Starswirl has a knack for putting himself into harms way in his pursuit of knowledge. He often visits the Castle of the Two Sisters in the Everfree Forest. Starswirl reads and studies books there, as it is very quiet. However, on his way to the castle, he has run into dangerous creatures, like timberwolves and manticores. While he is strong in magic, the animals tend to outnumber him and rough him up a bit. So, Celestia insisted that he keep at least one personal guard, and she assigned Blue Mist (Trixie’s daughter) to be his guardian. He’s not happy about it.
 
Relationships:  
Starswirl has a rather interesting relationship with his mother, Twilight Sparkle. He greatly admires her achievements, such as being the Princess of Friendship, being the element of magic, and saving Equestria frequently. On the other hoof, he is rather envious of his mother’s accomplishments. She is incredibly gifted and loved by all. Starswirl has an unhealthy obsession of comparing himself to his mother. Every morning, before his royal lessons with Celestia, he will visit Twilight’s stained glass window and use it as a form of motivation for his goals. Twilight Sparkle is aware of his fixation and tries to encourage him to be himself. However, her words never truly reach him.
 
Starswirl loves his father, Flash Sentry, but he finds himself gravitating towards his mom more. After marrying Twilight, Flash moved to Ponyville with her and joined a special guard unit that is stationed in Ponyville. Starswirl didn’t see his dad that often as he was always out on important missions. But when he did see him, Flash would often read to him when he was a colt. Starswirl loved stories about Equestria’s history, especially ones about Celestia and Luna. As an adult, Starswirl visits and talks with his father more often, as Flash retired from guard duty after suffering a particularly bad injury on one mission.
 
During his teenage years, Starswirl had a huge crush on Crosswind, admiring her passion for academics and books. After one hugely awkward confession, they began to date. They were in a relationship for about a year before Starswirl moved to Canterlot to train under Princess Celestia. Starswirl reluctantly ended it with Crosswind, believing that it wouldn’t work out in the end. The long distance and his goals to rule a kingdom would get in the way of their relationship. Crosswind acted like it was for the best, but she was secretly torn up about it for a long time.
 
Special:  
-Starswirl doesn’t enjoy going out to parties. He prefers smaller social gatherings. So, he can’t help but complain the whole time when he has to attend galas and greet visitors with Princess Celestia.
 
-Starswirl had a crush on Princess Luna when he was a little colt. He couldn’t help but admire the way she carried herself with such pride and dignity (not to mention, her beauty).
 
-He has a pet raven named Shadow, who he met on one of his many visits to the Everfree Forest. Starswirl was fascinated by its intelligence, and the bird seemed to really like the young prince’s company. One day, Shadow followed Starswirl home, and the unicorn decided to take in the raven.
 
-Starswirl was not happy when Blue Mist was assigned to be his personal guard. He finds her presence to be irritating, as she follows him everywhere. However, he can’t deny that she is a beautiful mare. He tends to get super flustered when she stares at him with those intense blue eyes.
 
-Starswirl keeps a secret diary, where he writes down all his thoughts and emotions. In his teen years, he may have had a few, lovey-dovey pages dedicated to Crosswind and Princess Luna. It also contains crudely drawn images of him as an alicorn.
