Description
Emerald checks the ingredients for the Shape Stone spell. It looks like it needs some small stones, a little iron, and a few crystals. Maybe he could get lucky and find those?
Emerald turns back to Joyride and then asks her about the wasp queen, and how they are going to rescue him once they are done. He also asks if she is sure Ruby will be okay.
“She should be. She ain’t a guy after all, and if we do this right we shouldn’t have any of the soldier wasps come after us. Soldier wasps guard the queen, they are a bit larger, but it shouldn’t be a problem. Probably. If you want to know more about the queen and the soldiers I would suggest asking Loupe. She’s the naturalist after all.” Joyride then, looks around to see the harvesting is complete, and starting to walk back towards the others says, “As for rescuing you, leave that to me. I have an idea I’m working on right now.”
Emerald is a little unsure about this vague statement, but decides to trust her. She wouldn’t put him into a seriously dangerous situation, or leave him behind. He knows that much.
For the rest of the day Ruby and Emerald sit in the back of the self-moving wagon. Emerald helps her practice reading while he practices his smoke spell for a little while.
It takes them another two hours or so to get to the jungle, and a little while longer to find a place to get through. The jungle is incredibly dense, with the trunk of the trees nearly twice three times his span in some places, and the dense foliage sitting atop each other like some sort of leafy chain mail. There is no path here, so they decide to cut their way through. The wagon ride becomes so bumpy from going over roots and rocks that the two foals decide to just walk for the rest of the day.
Luckily the party finds a small clearing in the trees and decides to set up camp.
