Deft Comet is a rather quirky pony. She gives names to inanimate objects, and is very fond of hats. She wears a bandana to keep her unruly mane out of her face. She is also very patient and adaptable, and always seems to have a plan. She absolutely loves anything strategy-related and is always looking for ways to challenge herself. She and her older brother (whom I haven’t named yet) love to play strategy games together.

After being exposed to radiation during a school field trip (which is only slightly more plausible than simply walking into the danger zone), Comet miraculously survives. Normally (headcanon), radiation kills a pony by throwing off the balance of their magical energies (the same magical energies that allow unicorns to cast spells, pegasi to walk on clouds, and earth ponies’ connection to nature). In Comet’s case, however, it allowed her to channel this energy to speed up her movement and change her perception of time. It also passively protects her from most of the negative effects of stuff like friction that would be a problem in the real world. After discovering her powers, she decides to use them to fight crime as Fili-Second.
