Now, I love Marble’s design as much as the next guy, but damn, I don’t think I’ve ever had such a 180 change-of-heart on a character as I have with Limestone “Blinkie” Pie. Even Trixie took some time, but not Blinkie; immediately lovable with a couple character aesthetic and personality changes. And I was 100% sure I’d like Marble “Inkie” Pie more before the episode aired.
 
Part of that may be due to the overshadowing presence that Inkie has had over the fandom.
 
For the most part though, I think it’s just the fact that shy, adorable, cute ponies are a dime a dozen in the land of Equestria whereas badass, mordant, somewhat cynical ponies get regulated to villains or just unlikable characters. It’s nice to see that style of character put on someone we aren’t meant to dislike.
