I’m back from my trip! And does it ever feel good to be drawing ponies again! I may have missed a few days in Equestria Daily’s Artist Training Grounds, but it’s time to pick back up again and continue producing quality pony art (or at least pony art) for all to enjoy!
 
Today’s prompt is Draw a pony chasing their dreams / Draw a pony reaching for a goal. So, let’s talk about this. Last Saturday, I watched Discordant Harmony and The Perfect Pair for the first time. I knew they were available for a while now, and I had been watching the early Season 7 Canada releases up to this point, but I avoided these two under protest because I was getting sick of all the early releases and general chaos with the show’s schedule so far. Ultimately, I’m glad I waited; both episodes were absolutely awesome and a great way to resume the 7th season after the hiatus. I am hype all over again!
 
So I knew that when I returned from my trip, I wanted to draw Applejack and Fluttershy again, and I wanted to somehow tie in to one of the two new episodes. All I was missing was the prompt, and after reading it today, this is what I came up with: Applejack dreaming (or daydreaming?) about who I’m implying were her parents, chasing them, and then… something happens. Something bad. I’ll let you fill in the blanks. I even had her reaching her hoof out for a double prompt bonus.
 
Apparently Applejack and Fluttershy are just my excuses for drawing more complex emotions, which I guess makes sense if you really think about it. I clearly need more practice drawing ponies hugging (as well as just hugging in general), but hopefully the gesture is made clear. Glad to be back! Glad the show’s back! Looking forward to the next prompt!
 
Applejack: Have you ever had ta deal with the loss of a family member, Fluttershy?  
Fluttershy: Well, my brother’s dead to me. Does that count?
