One of my favorite forms of exposition right now is casual conversation. Revealing new and important concepts in an otherwise understated manner so that, if the players are savvy enough (or the anvil is heavy enough), the players can pick up on it and pursue it themselves.

Fancy Pants: The very same. Dainty Dove, allow me to introduce Special Inspector Upper Crust, with the Equestrian Crimes Commission.
Rarity: I-Inspector? Did I miss something?
Upper Crust: <sigh> Pleasure. I’ll be your chaperone for the evening. Are you certain of her? You have a habit of being too trusting, Mr. Pants.
Fancy Pants: I checked her credentials myself.
Rarity: Pardon?!
Fancy Pants: And if it’s a fake, it’s a delightfully thorough fake. Of equal or greater quality to the ECC’s covers, I’d say.
Rarity: HA HA HA HA HA. Yes. Of Course. No Fakes Here. HA HA. HA. <ahem> May I roll Bluff to make that sound slightly less awkward?
