Guest Author’s Note: “I’m annoyed at myself with this page, because it made me realize there was a way better title for an earlier page. While I’m happy to have the reference I did for ‘A Waste of Good Violence,’ I feel like ‘They’re Dead, Gym’ would have been way funnier. (Because it’s also very bad.)

MD’s problem on this page is…one that I encountered a lot in my early GM days. It’s…very, very easy to focus on just your players and either their immediate or overall antagonists, which means when you have the realization that ‘Of course there would be other people gunning for this MacGuffin,’ you have the equally painful realization of ‘And I haven’t established any of them, so this is going to go over like a lead balloon.’ It’s not necessarily a bad thing if the players and antagonists are the only ones seeking the same goal, but it depends on the world you’ve established up to that point. When you’re in your head a lot…that can be difficult to keep track of. There’s reasons that I do a lot of Player/NPC interaction now, and it’s not just because I like making characters.

Any stories about the party or DM forgetting about other potential obstacles?”

MD: Nope. All she does is smile at your group.
FS: You don’t think she smashed the gym again, do you?
PP: If she likes her knees she better not have!
MD: Nope. The gym’s fine. But as party planner, you get some new info. Sunset Shimmer has dropped out of the Fall Formal Race.
Twilight Sparkle: What?
AJ: That feelin’s getting’ worse…
RT: So…Twilight’s unopposed now? We win?
MD: Wha-…why would you think you were the only people in the race?
RT: Who else is there!?
