In this re-imagining, the bad Babs experience suffered by the CMC was not an isolated episode, but rather a childhood-long bully-fest. Insecure among her peers, prone to bursts of anger and generally underhoof at home, preteen Babs is shipped off several times a year to Sweet Apple Acres, where one languidly assumes the fresh air will do her good. Missing her metropolitan home and contemptuous of backwater Ponyville and everyone in it, Babs tends to lash out at the snot-nosed younger foals that cousin AJ, in her good-natured family-centric ignorance, constantly pushes into Babs’s punching range. Apple Bloom and her crew are harassed at best and terrorized at worst by the big city filly, whose belligerent presence they come to expect every few months. It should also be mentioned that Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon are not at all exempt from the fury of Babs, who seems to take particular pleasure in rubbing their pretty faces in the dirt. No queasy threats on DT’s part to take legal action seem to be able to stop this.
The one foal that Babs will NOT bully or harm in any way is Twist. We’re not really sure why. It could be that, since Twist is a sickly child (seen here wearing the eyepatch meant to doctor one of a series of optical maladies), Babs won’t cross this particular line of cruelty. I personally think it has more to do with Twist’s unshakable cheer and self-confidence: she simply doesn’t rise to any attempts at bullying, and combined with her jovial weirdness, she blows Babsie’s mind.

PS: Eventually Babs owns up to and atones for her bad behavior, turns over a new leaf and makes nice with the CMC. They’re all good friends nowadays.
