“How is she, Twi?”
Twilight looked up. Her husband, Sunburst, walked towards her with their daughters, Violet Eclipse and Dawnspark, trailing him.
“She doesn’t sound good, but I’m sure she’s doing well,” Twilight assured. Sunburst sat in the chair beside her and kissed her forehead, while their daughters sat on the rug.
“Why are we here?” Violet grunted in her usual snark.
“Aunt Starlight and Aunt Tempest’s foal is going to be here soon, and were waiting for them to come, hon,” Twilight explained.
Violet’s mouth opened to speak, but she stopped as a loud moan came from Starlight’s room. Twilight and Sunburst exchanged a worried glance.
Nightfall came and went, and despite Starlight continuing to make noise, they had dozed off.
“Push! A little harder!” The nurse ordered.
Twilight snapped awake. She blinked away the sleep, and wiped off the drool by her mouth. She shook Sunburst awake, and gently roused Violet and Dawnspark.
“Di-Did she have the baby yet?” Sunburst murmured.
“No, but I think soon,” Twilight said.
As the family settled, a familiar blue unicorn entered the waiting room.
“Greetings Twilight and Sunburst, as well as the little fillies!” Trixie exclaimed.
“You just got here?” Twilight asked in confusion.
“What? Was I supposed to get here sooner?” she questioned.
“Nevermind that,” Sunburst said, “The foal seems it’ll come soon.”
Trixie blinked at them, and trotted to a nearby chair. Dawnspark crawled over to her, and Trixie coddled the foal as they waited. A half-hour passed, and the nurse walked out of Starlight’s room.
“They’ve asked to see you, Ms. Sparkle,” the nurse announced, eyeing Twilight.
Twilight got up out of her chair, and looked at Sunburst and Trixie. Sunburst looked back at her as he stroked a sleeping Violet, and Trixie was snoring with Dawnspark. She followed the nurse to the room.
Starlight held a tiny foal, covered in a blue blanket, in her arms, with Tempest admiring the foal. Starlight looked up, and smiled wearily as Twilight came to the empty side of the bed.
“Have you been out there the whole time?” Tempest asked quietly.
“Yes, and I can admit we had slept,” Twilight admitted.
“It’s a colt,” Starlight murmured.
The three mares looked down at the foal. His tiny body rose and fell as he whimpered.
“Thank you for choosing me to be his godmother,” Twilight said.
“We couldn’t decide between you and Trixie, so I hope you don’t mind that she is his godmother too,” Tempest explained.
“Of course not,” Twilight replied. “What’s his name?”
“…Twilight Tracker,” Starlight decided, with Tempest nodding.
Twilight looked up at them. “Twilight? Twilight Tracker, as in..?”
“You’ve changed both of our lives for the better,” Tempest explained. “There wasn’t a doubt in our mind of honoring you.”
“I..” Twilight sniffled, and put her hoof to her chest in embarrassment. “Thank you. Thank you so much.”
Tempest met her gaze, and smiled.
“I promise to be the best godmother ever!” Twilight exclaimed.
