It was a great summer’s day in the ever hot and smokey Dragon Lands. Spike had planned to visit his old friend Garble, as he has been going through personal conflicts and Spike wanted to be nice and accompany him. He continued with his plans and had thought of bringing along his kids, Jade and Ignatius, in hopes to become friends with Garble’s son, Inferno. Spike thought it would be a great trip, as it was the first one with the twins, and perhaps they can experience their paternal ancestor’s homeland.
Ignatius being the young boy he is, was so stoked to go on this trip, and frankly, Jade was too, though not possessing as much energy as he did. That early morning, they began their travels and traveled far and wide to get there. It was a memorable journey, and Spike made sure to keep Jade and Ignatius extra close. They arrived eventually with the invitation to stay in Garble’s Cavern for a bit (Fun HC fact: homes for dragons in caves are called Lairs and or Caverns, while won/bought territory are called Grounds and or Domains).
That night when they arrived, Jade and Ignatius were able to meet Inferno. And my, was Iggy happy to see him. “Lookit! I just had my molt! Look at my awesome wings!,” Inferno said proudly after opening his sparkly blue wings. Iggy gasped as his eyes widened in amazement.
“YOU’RE SO COOL! CAN I BE YOUR FRIEND?!,” Iggy shouted.
Inferno was slightly off put by Iggy’s loud sudden compliment, then murmured, “Sure, why not”. His acceptance didn’t sound sincere in the slightest. Inferno wasn’t sure why, perhaps he didn’t know how to handle Ignatius’ abrupt kindness… why so? Regardless, Iggy was stoked to hear his subtle yet absolute response. However, Jade definitely wasn’t having it and could see right through his obvious facade. She doesn’t trust him, not one bit. A scowl constantly appeared on her face whenever she saw him…
The next day, Ignatius was eager to play with his new friend. However, even though Inferno accepted Iggy’s friend request, Ferny couldn’t help but give him a bothered glare before complying. He also made excuses to cut certain games short with Iggy, and tried his hardest to stay as far away from Jade, by mimicking her grimace in an attempt to scare her off. But it only just made her more skeptical of him. However, she did stay back in the shadows, observing Iggy and Ferny’s boyish shenanigans from afar. Back to Inferno, he doesn’t know why he does this to others. He wants friends; dragons to care about him, and be proud of his accomplishments. Play with him and love him for who he truly is. And that’s what Iggy is doing. But nonetheless, he steadily keeps pushing him away, and, for why? Ignatius never noticed Inferno’s signs of dismissing him. In fact, for the majority of their three day trip, Iggy was constantly chock full of energy, ready to follow behind Inferno wherever he went. Unintentionally, Iggy was so blinded by his desires that he sometimes went off without Jade. That definitely made her conflicted as “they” always played together… But she understood that this trip wouldn’t last forever.
Ignatius had unknowingly pestered Inferno to his breaking point. Ferny tried to keep the irritation inside, but he had to let it out and give Iggy a reason to leave him alone… for good. The final day that the two shared, Iggy wanted to play one more game, tag. What started off as an innocent game of tag, had suddenly turned into a scene. It was time for Inferno to be it; He let Iggy tag him…
“YAY, COME CATCH ME!!” Ignatius yelled in glee as he pranced away from him.
“Oh, I will~~,” Inferno grinned fiercely. Obviously, his speed was no match for Inferno to instantly catch up. Before Iggy could think, Ferny caught up and pounced on the small “kirin”. Ignatius was winded from the impact, opening his bright turquoise eyes, wide and frightened, just to see claws bared, ready to strike.
“Wha~~ I thought we were f-friends?”, Iggy stammered.
“N-NO, WE WERE NEVER!,” Inferno’s voice was rugged, deep, and broken. “NOW LEAVE ME ALONE!,” before Iggy could react, Inferno struck him in his right eye. Ignatius cried right on impact, kicking and screaming. Jade, who was observing rocks nearby, heard the cry of her brother. The sound pained her to the brink of tears. She hastily ran her way, on all fours, towards his helpless cries.
“Ignatius!,” she shouted. She saw him lying on his side and covering his right eye, shivering as he sobbed. Jade noticed Inferno inching away from this situation. Before he could run, Jade attempted to get revenge. “WHAT DID YOU DO?!,” she roared, as she bolted towards him, trying to attack him, but he was too quick.
“I WAS JUST PLAYING!!,” Inferno exclaimed.
“NO YOU WEREN’T!,” Jade snapped back.
Promptly, before anything could escalate further, the two fathers, Spike and Garble, heard the commotion outside and came to check. The fathers were distraught at the sight, as the two couldn’t help but feel accountable for the situation at hand (especially Garble… for reasons I will get into later TwT). Jade exposed Inferno, and he was sent to his room. Spike aided his son, and was heartbroken to see the scar on his face. Spike thought, “This trip was supposed to be a happy memory, now it’s a trauma. Surely Inferno didn’t mean it”. The twins never saw Inferno after that incident before they left. Why would Inferno do such a thing? Why?

Welp, there you have it. Ignatius scar origin story TwT. I will get into the nitty-gritty regarding Garble and Inferno, and why Ferny acts the way he does, soon. Also, gladly for Iggy, he didn’t develop any trust issues or anything like that, only towards Inferno a bit. In fact, Ignatius isn’t entirely mad like some may expect. In future, the two may just talk things out.
I do hope y’all liked it! Thank you again for the constant support and your time!! I LOVE Y’ALL!! 💖 And, goodbye for now! ÓwÒ
