Undertale reference, because the game is so great. :P
I’ve been making MLP fanarts and comics for almost 11 years. To celebrate it, this is my 100th comic.
I intentionally wanted it to be the 100th comic. My original plan was to post this on October 2022 to celebrate the fact that I’ve been making fanart of MLP for 10 years (at the time), but some circumstances that were out of my control affected my plans, all my plans I must add. For those who didn’t get the references, the last two characters in the last panel were Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo, both from G3.5. I thought it was a fun way to mock the creative decisions from that era.
Technically I’ve been a fan of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic since November 2011 and I started making and posting fanart of the show here since summer of 2012, more specifically in Italy. My first comics and fanarts were very crude and inappropiate because I intentionally wanted to replicate Max Gillardi’s style. But that didn’t work. In 2013 I changed my style, although it wasn’t enough. I needed to learn the fundamentals of art and graphic design (character design, composition, appeal, character silhouette, color scheme, color language, etc). In 2018 I wanted to take the commissions more seriously, like a professional job.
One big thing to consider when it comes to talk about the show is that I haven’t watched anything from 2017 to 2020. The main reason is that back in 2016 I was frustrated, exhausted and oversaturated with so much stuff in the show I didn’t need to watch. As a result of that, I wanted to take a loong break. That wasn’t the case with fanarts because I wanted to keep going. A good thing about negativity is that you can turn it into something funny to avoid being grumpy. Funnily enough, some of the G4 purists have the opposite problem when it comes to G5: They want to turn the funny things into something bad, but that’s a topic for another day. I’m glad that I wanted to take my time until I went back to finish the show much later. If there’s one thing that the world doesn’t need is hype culture. We don’t need Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield or the season 6 of Friendship is Magic. We need honesty and heart.
In my final thoughts of the show I said that Friendship is Magic was pretty good, but it was a troubled show that didn’t live up to what Hasbro and the writers wanted out of it. And when you compare Friendship is Magic with other animated shows like Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, Wander over Yonder and The Owl House (which, by the way, AMAZING season 1)… it kinda reveals the room of improvement that MLP:FiM could have achieved. And yeah, Chrysalis’ reveal is really cool in season 2, and the final episodes of season 9 are entertaining, but, imagine what Disney Animation Studios, Pixar or Sony Pictures Animation can do with a character like Chrysalis.
But DHX Studios is not Disney Animation Studios. It’s not Dreamworks. And it’s not their fault. It’s a small studio to begin with.
Something that has become clear when I finished the last 3 seasons in 2020 and 2021 is something that we tend to forget when it comes to talk about My Little Pony, and it’s this: Friendship is Magic is a mid-budget animated production. It wasn’t meant to tell a long story about friendship for so many years. It wasn’t meant to be cohesive and logical and to take care of little things. It’s very easy to forget that this show is a procedurally-generated story getting more and more off the rails. Does it have bad creative decisions? Yeah, of course, but it wasn’t cohesive in the first place. and it’s not like the newer seasons delete the earlier seasons from existence. And it’s not like the last seasons were absolutely horrible. I love The last problem and I don’t get why so many people dislike it so much. Maybe I can find some time to talk about it.
I’ve heard a lot of things about G5, and I have to get to chapter 4 of Make your Mark, but so far, both A New Generation and Make your Mark are much better than the last 4 seasons of Friendship is Magic. Many fans want to say it’s either great or bad, but to me it’s just fine. I think the G5 writers know what they’re doing. I just think it’s neat.
I think it’s pretty crazy that I’ve been making fanarts and comics of My Little Pony for more than ten years. And yeah, the show isn’t as relevant as it was in the past, but we still got the classic episodes and the fanwork, particularly the music. I love the music fans make, seriously. But more importantly, THANK YOU SO MUCH for catching up with my work all these years, even if we don’t see eye to eye in most things, which is fine. If billions of people had the same opinion on everything, the world would have been very boring.
Sorry for the long text, take care and thank you so much for reading this! See ya later! <3
Bold of you to assume I actually read all that shit.
Also, what the hell’s up with her face in those second and fourth panels? It’s like the artist randomly decided to insert a human nose where the rest of her snout should be.
Other than Newborn Cuties, generation 3.5 really isn’t bad. The beginning of generation 4 was a massive unsustainable spike in quality. In hindsight, a return to the norm should not have been surprising. Overall, generation 4 is by far the best generation. But by the end, it had also become by far the most cursed. Generation 5 is, again, not bad.

If I had posted on derpibooru, most would have the same reaction as you and for that, he would have it removed. Which is funny to say the least that he has no such DNP restrictions there yet might as well be the case. In any case, any time he does make those, I’m posting everywhere else but Derpi.
He fits nearly every hate dumb possible, some traits just stand out more.
He does draw more humans lately.
