It has its downsides and its drawbacks, but they also have the “Anonymous in Equestria” threads for all your greentext shitposting needs. And they have art threads from which a non-trivial portion of the art posted on the boorus originates. I sometimes even occasionally get my requests drawn, which is enough to keep me coming back, at least for now. But yes, the culture there has its roots in /b/ and, further back, Something Awful, and I keep my expectations low. Now and then I get a pleasant surprise.

The ostensible reason, I think, is that at 4chan /mlp/ is theoretically a worksafe board, and a great deal of Milky Way content, maybe most of it, was always smut. But generally you can predict what 4chan’s tranny jannies will do if you assume that they’re petty manchildren on a power trip who hate ponies and fun almost as much as they hate truth and their own userbase.
