It legitimately shocks me that this cluster fuck ran by mentally unstable man children hasn’t died yet. This embarrassment to mankind should have been gone 4 years ago.

Makes sense. Either way if this is the hill conventions want to die on then fine by me. Saves me money in the long run.

That and the convention was getting stale. Once you seen who you’ve wanted and the convention is in a location where there isn’t much to do outside of the hotel it’s not too hard to get bored.

Targeted harassment and even violence on the basics of politics is older than movies or radio in this country, though I will admit that the Internet and social media have permitted people whose inclinations always ran that way to act on their impulses in a way they couldn’t thirty or fifty or a hundred years ago. But what is key to remember is that we’ve always had people like this in the US. Their hatred and contempt for the rest of us are nothing new. They have been in complete control of the government since Clinton and the newsmedia since the 1930s if not longer, and they feel fearless and bold because the System, the System they all claim they’re fighting and want to bring down, protects them and allows them to exercise power. This is the sort of thing we see a lot in history during the run-up to a civil war.

But harassment and objectively insane rhetoric are nothing new. Read Thucidydes. All these same things were going on in Athens 2550 years ago. Human nature hasn’t changed, only the tools we use.

Fair enough. Like I said I don’t think I’ve seen it this bad where everything needs to be a platform and if you don’t support it these piece of shits will hound you to hell and back and do everything they can to make sure you’re not allowed to be invited to stuff and may even try for your job

Granted, I unplugged myself from American popculture 20+ years ago–but we’ve had political agitprop masquerading as entertainment since we’ve had a news and entertainment media. Go look up William Randolph Hearst and the Spanish-American War. Look up a 1943 Hollywood film called ‘The North Star.’ It’s always been this bad. Always. A little of it is oozing out into the niche fandom areas like ours now–but it’s always been like this.

Sadly we live in a time where people will believe any BS they’re fed. I’m not a fan of Trump and think he did/said some stupid shit but my god at people following his every move to the point I thought I was watching TMZ.

And yeah it sucks this stuff spilled over into entertainment/fandomms/etc. I just hope it ends soon and smaller/indie take control and remember to never let these lunatics get any power.

People who don’t understand politics, and believe whatever is told to them, will eventually find themselves so far from reality that they will want to ignore themselves.

I’m old enough to remember Bush Derangement Syndrome for both Bush I and Bush II, Reagan Derangement Syndrome, and Nixon Derangement Syndrome. These people are pretty indiscriminate when it comes to the objects of their obsessed unreasoning hatred. And it’s much older than the Internet.

Trump Derangement Syndrome. Those who think there’s something very bad about Trump or his supporters have TDS. They attribute everything bad to him without being able to name any reason or correlation why. They go around thinking his supporters will remove everything they love. It’s honestly a mental illness, and I’m not even memeing about that. In terms of clinical psychology, what these people are experiencing is hysteria (which in of itself is considered an outdated term if you don’t explain what you mean). Hysteria can also be considered dissociative disorder, and to put both into layman’s terms; it’s an inability to properly control ones emotions due to an inability to properly grasp reality (though, in some cases can be far worse and understandable/be to no fault of the afflicted).

TDS isn’t an official diagnosis, nor is it an officially recognized term within the psychiatric field, but the actual effects are very real. People have done the very same thing with Hitler for years before Trump came around.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s not curable. You can’t just get someone to stop through therapy. They have such an unfounded, internal hatred that a change in reality and perspective, even if completely true and correct, would require them to reevaluate entire sections, not just points, in their life. Many people can’t handle that, so they just refuse. The brain sees the work it would need to put in, and immediately says no, since it wants to avoid stress.

Make no mistake, the media has caused mass hysteria by gaslighting and lying to the public by using words that greatly change importance or significance, or in some cases just outright lying to spin a narrative.

The silver lining is these people will never be able to hold down a job or treat others in a respectable way, since their hysteria will cause them to react unreasonably and in drastic proportions. If you saw the recent outburst the Papa John’s employee had when seeing Trump flags on a passing truck, then you know just how warped these people are.

Just like picking out wood at home depot, you don’t grab the warped pieces for any reason. The amount of work required to straighten them is not worth the purpose, so you don’t buy them. You don’t use them. They will never be useful without wasting precious hours of your time for little payout.

It shouldn’t surprise you. Half of Hollywood is Jewish, all the big movers and shakers there are Jewish, Hasbro started as the Hassenfeld Brothers Toy Company and its board is full of Red Sea Pedestrians. They’re only 2% of the population, but I’m sure it’s just another Cohencidence, like the way they also own the newsmedia and the financial system.

She is? I honestly don’t know anything about her other than some characters she voiced and her suffering from TDS

And they will accuse anyone who points it out of “driving a wedge into the fandom.” SJWs always project, always lie, and always double down.

Agreed there are good people. However until people will actually make a stand against the religious left/crybullies who will do everything they can to silence or harass people into submission things won’t change. And sadly I doubt they will because most of the VIPs you’d expect at a horse con are in the same alignment as these wierdos. I remember when Tara Strong was at BABSCon one year and made an anti-Trump statement out of the blue.

@Anonymous #E8B0
Agreed. Remember back when cons were just a place to show off our power levels/go full ‘tism on the stuff we love? Now all cons have seemed to turn into a physical manifestation of Twitter. “Look how diverse we are!” “We love our LGTBQIA+⬆⬆⬇⬇⬅➡⬅➡BA▶ community” “BLM!” “White men are evil!” it still amazes me the people that preach this shit are the very ones driving a wedge into everything and it’s going to be interesting when they turn on each other more often.
