And the music industry at least here in the states.

It is such a simple concept. It would be laughable to call this “hate” or a violation. I can, even if I find the attitude to be over the top, still understand on some level her being mad at using her “work” but all you are doing is filling in on a novel idea without using someone’s work who is upset with that. A minimalist pony with a flag doesn’t leave that much to claim copyright over.

If you’re all indecisive of naming the pony generator program, I suggest that you can start a poll in a thread with the best names and the winner shall be it.

Has this or any image from the generator been uploaded to derpi? If they deleted this, that would be them setting a standard of any old user being able to claim some pretty broad rights on stuff.

Oh shit, I completely missed that. I would say… For a base like this, tag the original artist, and maybe “artist:ponymultiplier” or something like that?

Can I say that we should be thankful that the artist’s “original” ych let a path to create this fast and accessible pony creator, and all for the right price:

Wait, I’m tired and retarded, you’re right. Copyleft is about forcing all derivative works to retain the same freedom. Non-copyleft licenses can be used in derivative works with no issue.
The trick is that a non-copyleft work can be used as part of a much larger proprietary, non-free work, and the only obligation is that the free portion has its free license reproduced with it (which changes nothing in practice since it was already free and already likely redistributed by and available from many others). With a copyleft license, this is not possible, as the entire larger work must then be made free/libre.

Not sure what you mean here; “copyleft” is generally used to refer to licenses which require redistributions and derivative works to retain the same terms, and the GNU GPL is possibly the most famous example of copyleft. BSD-style licenses are free licenses but not copyleft, you’re right there (so this image is not under copyleft).

You might be talking about “public domain” licenses, which attempt to forfeit any and all rights and copyrights (which doesn’t always work, due to e.g. “moral right” laws in some European countries like Germany, but in many places of the world they come close or succeed). Such as the Unlicense, or (my personal favourite) the WTFPL.
