I am referred to as a “backup mod”, or something along those lines, since I’m not currently proactive, due to University and stuff keeping me busy. Also what Luzion said.
It wouldn’t make much difference, but they can add me to the staff page if they want.
Luzion, it seems like you have an easy and transparent solution here. Would there be a reason not to implement it, especially as Zippy is in favour of it?
Tweak the role / description as you wish so it is accurate about Zippy’s duties (‘Consultant’, ‘Philomena platform expert’, backup mod, etc.), but you only need to add a header to the Staff page and include Zippy under that. Transparency achieved and no worries.

The decision to omit them from the list is because there is zero expectation of them to perform moderation. This prevents users from contacting inactive staff for support as that is against our moderation policy. The alternative is they use a personal account. The end result is the same. But then juggling two accounts. A police officer doesnt wear their uniform/badge to bed or to the grocery store (typically) unless they are expected to act in that capacity. And again, unless its to stop illegal content, theyre not permitted to act in ANY capacity. We can look at reviewing the transparency of the staff list, but again this isnt that place for this conversation. I get the frustration of the situation, but with the audit log and the power to call us out for failure to audit something with zero reciprocation, the end result is effectively the same. We’ll review and discuss further about the staff page transparency internally.
No list of rules is perfect, and we have to operate on a certain level of trust. If we violate said trust, we full expect users to leave. That is our incentive to not be deceitful.
If I put so and so’s oc next to or in the staff group, does that mean the are actual staff?
C’mon, that’s chickenshit and you know it. If you have a ‘staff photo’, would there be clowns, strippers or people unrelated to the organization or management in it? This is solved extremely easily with the addition of another category to the staff page: consultant. If Zippy has mod powers, he should appear on that page or you risk losing credibility the same way Derpibooru did back in the day. Fuck it, Zippy can have a mod alias that has the ‘powers’, but if his account isn’t on the page you’re doing the exact same thing TSP did.@ZippySqrl

Respectfully, this is what I would want to request under the title you feel is both descriptive and appropriate for your duties and powers.
@ZippySqrl
Yes I should have clarified that as well, appreciate it.
Zippy is subject to our staff policy and use of staff tools is only authorized if they are visible on the staff page. He does have access to said tools, but should not interfere unless no other mod is available and that would only be authorized for highly egregious infractions such as illegal content namely as CP. to which our policy is immediate deletion, ban of said user(s) involved, and then information forwarded to authorities.
A more through moderation policy will be written hopefully in the near future, outlining much of this. However I have a full time job, and Im also balancing a rule rewrite, as well as assisting in moderation and answering questions, so progress is slower then I’d like.

To address the vocal elephant in the room so to speak.
Zippy has experience with the Philomena software that runs the booru. During the early days of the sites launch, zippy was willing to lend a helping hand and get us on our feet. While we are significantly established and familiar with the tools, he still holds the unofficial title of consultant. His inclusion in this picture is not indicative of mod status, but more or less friends of the staff. Does that make sense?
If I put so and so’s oc next to or in the staff group, does that mean the are actual staff? No its just happenstance. Sorry about this confusion. I can see where you all are coming from.

What in the TSP gulag fuck is this? Is ZippySqrl a member of the PonyBooru team or is this the whole ‘secret mod’ shit from Derpibooru a year ago?
