This is what has been bothering me most about the premise. I hope it doesn’t play out this way on screen, but the implication is that Equestria went from 1000+ years of prosperity under Celestia to episode 1, which set in motion the events which would eventually lead to Twilight taking over and running it straight into the ground.

I don’t want Gen 4 to retroactively become the story of Twilight replacing Celestia and then destroying the country.
