Flurry Heart/Lilo Pelekai - Not long after coming up with the idea for “Flurry Heart’s Story”, I thought heavily about her voice sounding an awful lot like Lilo from “Lilo and Stitch”. I pictured her having that kind of sassy, smart little girl vibe and Lilo came to mind. Sadly her VA, Daveigh Chase is no longer young much like some of the others in this list, so I doubt she could do that voice anymore, but if there were anyone who could sound like that, it would be what I’d want for Flurry.
Pound Cake/Dipper Pines - I had the genius idea the other day of the Cake Twins sounding like the Pines Twins from “Gravity Falls”. Pound and Pumpkin are the oldest of the group and would be between 10-13 years old which is the age range for Dipper and Mabel. Of course it’s not really realistic for a preteen to sound like these grown actors, but you can get away with it in cartoons as we’ve seen with Snips and Snails, and I think it fits incredibly well. I picture Pound being adventurous like Dipper, but not nearly as high-strung and silly as his sister.
Pumpkin Cake/Mabel Pines - Same with her, and let’s all be totally honest with ourselves, Kristen Schaal as Pumpkin Cake, who I picture being like Pinkie Pie 2.0, is utterly perfect. Random and silly, but sweet as pie!
Storm Streak/Fievel Mousekewitz - I was watching some scenes from “American Tail: Fievel Goes West” a few months ago and I got the idea in my head that Stormy would be a lot like Fievel, and it helped me build on more to his character as a result. Stormy would be just as adventurous and mischievous as Fievel, but still determined and devoted to his friends and family. It’s a perfect match!
Apple Chip/Littlefoot - Chip and Annie are a bit older than Stormy, so they’d sound a bit older than him, and while I initially didn’t know what I’d pick for Chip, I ultimately went with the original voice for Littlefoot in the 1988 “Land Before Time” film. Having a little kid voice with a more mature vibe I think fits Chip. I’m having a hard time deciding if he and his sister would have AJ’s southern accent, but if you can picture Littlefoot talking like that, I guess it can work.
Annie Smith/Dot - This one took me the longest to decide on. I started searching for animated films I grew up with and came across “A Bug’s Life” and instantly remembered Dot. I was also thinking of Blanky’s voice from “The Brave Little Toaster”, but it sounded a bit too young and was voiced by a male child actor, so I went with Dot. Annie is supposed to be the shy one of the group, but I didn’t want her to sound too much like Fluttershy.
Well there are my choices for what I think these characters would all sound like. Let me know what you guys think about them in the comments below! :D
A voice as Fieval fits Storm; the pluck and tenderness.
A voice as Littlefot’s; fitting tenderness and bravery.
