The voice surprises the mare because it sounds like it’s coming from someone much younger. In fact, it sounds to her like a filly’s voice.
She puts an eye up to the keyhole, and looking inside she sees a sturdy door. It looks thick with braces aroudn the edges, has a large lock, a slot with a cover near the bottom, and a metal grated window near the top.
Mulberry shifts her head around the keyhole trying to figure out who she is speaking to, but she doesn’t see anyone near the door. It looks to her like there is another room next to the one she can see, but her field of vision is too small so she can’t be sure.
The mare backs away from the keyhole a bit and tries to turn the knob.
It’s not locked.
