Rainbooru is currently running like complete ass, to be fair. Several images are also broken, which doesn’t seem to happen here.

Well, let’s assume that every picture is 2 MB. Thus, 1 TB of storage would theoretically be enough to store 500,000 images. That’s pretty insane.

Realisticly? The server currently being used has a couple TB. The server that’s yet to be slotted into the rack will have 8TB (I think, this is very fast storage), and the server beside it will likely carry upwards of 50TB.  
That’s in addition to TPA’s current 77TB capacity. (With 50TB used.)

This site will never share the fate of the antecedent for which it appears to be namesaked. For one thing, this hardware is owned, not rented. And the one who owns this hardware never intended on competing with Derpibooru, as they were aiming for much larger targets. If we are tasked by the fandom at large to supersede Derpibooru entirely, we certainly can.
Right now this booru is not even on the starship, it’s in a shuttle. Our starship is still in dry dock and her power is extreme.
However, isn’t there still the possibility that the site might run out of money at some point?
As unlikely as this is, the data would not be lost. As the hardware is owned - it could be served from any internet connection available. Archives would be made readily available too.
 
How much physical space do you have available anyway?
