I think I get what it tries to do, that is to paint the portrait of a family through the memories of the last living sibling, during the last hours of his father’s life. But did it really have to be presented this way?
I’m all for unusual movies, and innovative ways of telling a story, but I think this one is needlessly complicated. It’s a simple story with a labyrinthine structure, and these two elements never get together well. Also it’s three hours long, and the director’s fascination with nature, tree branches and skies is ridiculous.
If your patience is thin, skip this one. It will infuriate you.
And now, if you excuse me, I have to go check on the film. I think it just fainted or something.”
