Any stories about things getting good, people really getting into it, and then something happens to deflate it?

Applejack: Shoot, this ain’t even like a fantastical plague type scenario. It’s just the flu… in the worst possible situation with the worst possible timin’. Ah don’t suppose we caught it early enough to get everypony to take their flu shots?
DM: I mean, you could, but… I’m no doctor, but common sense says that if you’re already exposed, inoculation probably isn’t going to be effective.
Twilight Sparkle: Is there any medicine we could get them to take…?
DM: It’s the flu. There’s no cure – you just bear it with fluids, bedrest, and your basic over-the-counter meds.
Rainbow Dash: NO WAY! There HAS to be something we can do, right?!

DM: Well… If you’re serious…
