Page 602 - Not Enough Dragons
Long story goes here when I get back Monday night.
So, Everfree Northwest! I actually went to a minimum of panels and events myself, which turned out to be a good idea pacing-wise, and I spent most of my time either hanging out in the gaming rooms or… hanging out with random people in quiet spaces. Which I feel like makes a good theme for this weekend: Meeting a bunch of people in the community. (No show VIPs, but I don’t prioritize VIPs when I go to these things anyway. I don’t get you guys who spend money on merch and signatures. I have zero budget!)
The panel, though… That’s an interesting story. I spent a good portion of Friday and Saturday trying to hunt down the person who could possibly tell me if I may or may not have a projector so I could present my materials on Sunday. (I found out at the very last minute the answer was no.) There was a bit of confusion as to which room I’d be in. I did the last half of my research on a laptop that was defective and either dropped internet or went to sleep every 30 minutes, keeping me up all night Saturday. And when I get there 15 minutes before it starts, I discover that the hotel staff got confused and tore down the room early.
And yet, despite that - in fact, because of all that! - the panel was amazing. We ended up forming a little powwow circle of chairs, and I just plopped the laptop on my lap (fittingly enough) and used my presentation as talking points to the rest of the group. And there were about 30 people in the room, astoundingly! I was expecting like six guys.
So I did my spiel for 40 minutes, and the remaining 20 was spent letting the group share stories and discuss the points I’d brought up. There were only a couple of tangents that went awkwardly long; everything else did a great job of bringing up interesting points and driving discussion. All in all, I could not have asked for a better first panel. I was in a happy mood for the rest of the day.
So, of course, the moment I get back home, I find out that my $80 headset with which I do half my work and should’ve been good for another seven months has had its wiring damaged beyond repair while I was away. Figures.
Anyway, sorry for the long post this time around. I’ll see about making my panel presentation public sometime later today or tomorrow, and I’d like to shout out to PonyToast (my cool roommate for the weekend), Horse Voice, Mykin, Colton, MyLittlePonyTales, David Silver, and everyone else whose names I’ve either forgotten or can’t match to their face. It was a pleasure meeting you all! I’m off to get some sleep.

DM: The next hallway is flanked by pony suits of armor every few feet, each one menacing you with a harsh gaze.
Rainbow Dash: Great. I looove statue rooms.
Applejack: Do they have wings?
DM: Uh… no? These ones all have… horns.
Applejack: Okay, that’s good. If they’re not pegasus suits, that means they’re just decorative. They’re definitely not… possessed by spirits of Commander Hurricane’s loyal soldiers… or anything…
DM: To clarify: It’s possible that when the tomb was constructed, what counted for decorative armor at the time was designed to be all-inclusive.
Rarity: If so, that would be a slap in the face for a bigot like Hurricane. Enough to make an angry spirit even angrier.
Rainbow Dash: Still… You wouldn’t be that obvious, right? Putting us in a hallway full of possessed suits of armor? Oldest trick in the DM book.
DM: What, you have a problem with the classics?
Rainbow Dash: Uh-oh.
DM: Roll for Initiative!
