Glimmer. By a lot. It’s not even close. She’s the most petty, most evil character in the entire series, who gets new powers as the plot demands in violation of all the established rules of the series, who keeps brainwashing ponies and gets infinite second chances and never gets punished for anything ever. Just the opposite, even after trying to destroy all of existence she’s rewarded, because friendship is retarded or something.

And the writers did their best to shove her all the way the fuck down our throats for several seasons. They doubled down. It didn’t matter how divisive a character she was, they were so dead-set on forcing us to love her that they just kept inserting her everywhere she doesn’t belong.

But the show has a history of punishing ponies who’ve done nothing wrong while turning monsters into designated heroes.

Trixie literally did nothing wrong, and she was attacked viciously by everypony else, made homeless, and run out of town. And the retard twins, who unleashed a monster on the town and nearly got everypony killed, were rewarded by Twilight at the end of the episode!

Diamond Tiara is no worse than a normal kid and she’s a designated villain because she’s one of the few ponies who doesn’t put up with the nonsense of the CMC (the designated heroes), who have caused more major problems throughout the series than probably anypony else and are an absolute menace and should probably be locked away for life.

You’re completely right about the show’s weird history of punishing innocent characters and acting like the bad guys are heroes lmao.

The example I always go with is Discord, the dude never stopped being a mean spirited ass, he betrayed the main characters after supposedly befriending them but then it’s all okay because he said he was sorry when he was in turn betrayed, and then continues getting his kicks out of driving everybody else crazy, and even if he stopped being outright evil, he was negligent with cleaning up his previous schemes, such as the chaos seeds. Hell, he nearly banished a character to a sock puppet dimension for daring to befriend his friend lmao.

I still like Discord better than most other reformed villains because he’s entertaining. The other Villains/reformed villains are just dull,and their Reformation seemed to come not from a natural outcome,but because the writers were sick of writing a Villain.

I still like him too, and he never does stop being funny I agree. I just wish the show would have kept him as a villain outright, rather than have him act like one constantly while still supposedly being a good guy.

I’d have to re-watch the series to get a good opinion of who is the worst based on their actions in the show. However, I will say that the ponies who transparently exist to sell a new model of toy (Cadence, Flurry Heart, etc…) are the worst (even if they didn’t do anything wrong in-show).

@Havoc
I disagree.

@TheGlimMaster
That is the worst sin of them all.

  1. They doubled down on Starlight because the M6 had largely used up their storylines and character development by S6: they were in a half-hearted search for a new protagonist.
  2. I found that the show becomes better if you mentally add in some time-skips and realize that the order of the episodes as they’re presented to us may not correspond to the order of events in Equestria. For example, Twilight is told to “go to Ponyville and make friends” in S01E01, you could mentally add a couple of months (the minimum necessary time to build friendships) between her arrival in Ponyville and the Summer Sun Celebration. With that timing gap, there are quite a few episodes that could fit in that gap. You might be able to do that with Starlight.
  3. The writers should have written Starlight episodes with a “Dear Princess Twilight” epilogue in mind for each episode.

The thing is Twilight was not the chosen one because she was the most powerful, Sunset is just as strong and Glimmer is stronger when she’s having a rage fit. What she has that they don’t is iron self-control, even when she’s unhinged like Lesson Zero she is surgical, controlled and measured in her spell casting even if her decision making is impaired. When pushed to her limits Twilight retreats and shuts down into a depression.

Glim and Shim are unstable and blow up, having tempers, threaten violence and go on rampages. In terms of magic we have seen Glimmer lose control of her magic because she loses her temper and explodes (All bottled up).

The reason Twilight was chose over the other two was worse case scenario, Twilight isn’t going to have a rage fit and accidently blow up the world. Glimmer in psycho-mode is stronger, but is unstable.

Was Glimmer ever even a consideration? Sunburst went off to magic school, but Glimmer stayed behind in Sire’s Hollow. I’m pretty sure Celestia didn’t know about her until Twilight apprenticed her.
