Since this is basically the feedback thread right now, I thought I'd post my current feedback and questions here.
Do not upload images that contain watermarks or advertisements for sites that promote content theft, sharing of paid-only images, or sharing of images without providing reasonable attribution to the artists who made them. Likewise, do not share links to such sites either.
How literal is "sharing links"? Can we discuss rainbooru at length as long as we don't literally mention its URL or post images advertising it? Can we mention rainbooru in the description of images we upload (again, provided we don't mention its URL)? Also, let's say an image is rainbooru-exclusive and you want to upload it to ponybooru, should the source to be left blank since you can't link to rainbooru?
(Also, what's the purpose of this rule? Do you think if it's removed artists will look at it and be like "cripes, they're allowing advertisement of art stealing sites, let's get out of here boyos!" or something?)
Furry refers primarily to non-pony OC's that have no relation directly to the show, but are an offshoot of a pony related thing. This statement needs to be clarified further, but that takes work. A deer OC (with an MLP style body), or a primarily pony related pic including a furry related character comes to mind.
Honestly, I'm content with this. If a picture has a pony AND a furry, I'd support this to be archived either way (pretty sure rainbooru is meant to allow this as well). And shit like whisperfoot's deer is furshit but I don't care enough to throw up a stink over it. Maybe I'd be stricter on images that don't have a pony and are basically borderline furry, but this is a good enough compromise to where this is a pony site as far as I'm concerned.
An image isn’t pony-related just because something pony is in it; for instance, exploitable meme templates with unrelated content or pony merchandise in real-life pornography.
To clarify, it still CAN be pony-related, right? This is a bit vague. Of the following, which are "pony-related" and which would be banned?
— a pony video game skin (e.g. a minecraft pony skin)
— a pony-themed video game skin (e.g. some ship-building game where a ship is done in pony colours, maybe with a cutie mark)
— a pony-themed IRL build (e.g. a PC decorated with a cutie mark, like that rarifag's PC that gets posted in battlestation/room threads)
— IRL cosplay
— pony-themed accessories that don't make up a full cosplay (e.g. someone showcasing a pony-themed dogtag or a cutie mark ring or something)
— fictional cosplay (i.e. non-pony characters — whether furshit or humans or whatever — wearing pony themed shit; check "barely pony related, furry" on derpi for some examples)
— fictional non-pony characters with pony accessories (again, "barely pony related, furry" on derpi brings up images like some furries wearing PJs that have pony cutie marks, and that's literally all the relation the image has to pony)
Would "having pony be the primary focus" be a good guideline (i.e. a pony-themed object or pony merch is allowed, but a photo that's not focusing on that but just happens to have that in frame isn't allowed)? Or would the metric be something different?
a clear relation to MLP (all generations, not just FiM), or its community.
By the way speaking of this, what's the scope of this?
— Them's Fighing Herds
— Ico the Brave Little Horse
— Filly Funtasia
— Конёк Горбунок
Would any of these be banned? As worded the rule seems like TFH might be borderline and the rest would be banned, but Derpi with its near-identical rule IIRC does allow Ico for example. But they ban Funtasia. It's not very consistent over there.
Personally I think the policy should be lenient, especially on obscure stuff like old horse-related cartoons which will barely have any content. They won't harm the site, and they could be relevant to pony lovers.
Do not troll, attack, insult, name-call, or otherwise try to intentionally antagonize another person or group of people. This includes making racial, sexual, homophobic, or otherwise demeaning slurs, or posting similarly abusive content.
Honestly while some people ree about this, I gotta say I think it's a good idea. I don't feel strongly in favour of this rule, but I have no opposition against it. I am very happy you decided to specify this rule does not
apply to images, making ponybooru almost an image archive (barring DNPs and paid content, basically, which is covered by rainbooru); as long as this holds, moderating community interactions is perfectly good.
I don't agree with disallowing downvote brigading, but it's not something I feel strongly about.
However, I do strongly disagree with adding Aryanne and Luftkrieg to the default filter. What the fuck, Zizzy? "Nazi" is already filtered. It's also filtered on derpi, so everyone who was complaining about it was either using a non-default filter allowing her, or was doing it on purely ideological grounds of "I don't want to be on the same server". If you think this will quell drama somehow, it won't change anything. It's just arbitrarily adding OCs to a filter for no reason.
It's not really "censorship", so I'm not against this on any real ideological grounds, but it's just stupidity. Why is Luftkrieg hidden along with Aryanne, while Kyrie isn't? You're already being inconsistent even if you just wanted to hide "the nazi OCs". Why is Veronika allowed? "Communism" is also in the filter, and Veronika is "the communist pony", Aryanne's counterpart. What about about the inevitable diaper-shitting anthro OCs, will they be added to the Default filter as well? "But explicit is filtered!" — ye but apparently Aryanne is to be hidden even though "nazi" is already in the filter, why doesn't the diaper shitting OC get a special mention too?
It doesn't even have almost any practical impact, it's just retarded on principle. If anything, if somebody really is ignorant about Aryanne existing, filtering her explicitly will make people curious and make them find out about her, just by seeing her in the filter and wondering "why exactly is there an OC in the filter, what did this one OC do that's so bad they must be filtered explicitly?". To clarify, I'm not, like, angry about this or anything, I'm just really confused by this filter right now and think it's absolutely nonsensical.
