The inclusion of this cooldown was a bit of an oversight, and it will be reduced to 10-15 seconds in the next update.

hCaptcha is being used by philomena as a means to provide real-user authentication beyond what could have been done with the old captcha. Though having an in-house captcha may be an option in the future for Philomena again.

I hope an in-house captcha becomes an option because hCaptcha is actually shit, but at least it isn’t required for commenting on an image. It claims to be privacy-respecting while in reality they only care about money. hCaptcha “allows websites to make money serving this demand while blocking bots and other forms of abuse”. If money is all you and whoever develops philomena cares about, then go for it. Only thing worse is ReCaptcha, which doesn’t even work most of the time to the point to where users spend 10 minutes trying to solve it only to get rejected.
 
I’ve already talked enough shit about Cloudflare (MITM attack labeled “DDOS Protection”). This is the only booru I could find that isn’t Cloudflared (or maybe it is if hCraptcha makes it that). Literally every fucking website uses it now to where they control a large portion of the internet and can censor everything. The worst thing you could do to this site is putting it under Cloudflare.

Hey, I’m not sure how technically oriented you are but there is almost no money to be made while using hcaptcha.
 
Also for the record, those other boorus are using Cloudflare to cache high availability content so their backend webservers don’t actually have to serve the content more than a few times. They save money on web traffic / bandwidth by using Cloudflare as a cheap CDN.

The problem is, like he said, Cloudflare is a really shady organization. Even if we ignore their open abuse of their position to censor speech, they can effectively identify every single person on the internet, no matter how many VPNs you use or how careful you are with what you say. It’s frightening.
 
Remember how Google got so powerful with free services and now abuses that power? That. Besides, how is Cloudflare paying the bills, exactly? That should be on everyone’s mind, but no one questions it.

If you want to save money and use Cloudflare as a cheap CDN then that’s your decision. In terms of site activity, you’d only lose one user, one who didn’t even do anything on here.
 
Cloudflare pays the bills the same way all big tech corporations do: collecting and selling people’s data. I feel sorry for the guy you linked to. Cloudflare’s HTTPS isn’t end-to-end.

Frankly, neither do I. I posted that blogpost in response to TwilightShitlord just to shed light on how dangerous CF really is.
 
 
I’m not really sure what you’re achieving with the doom posting, you seem to be upset at something that isn’t in anyway a topic of this thread (or these updates for that matter.)

I have been suddenly logged out since the 24th and have been trying to log back in with no success. Submitted my email to receive password reset instructions and have not received them yet.
 
Decided to try to open a new account with another email and still haven’t received the email of confirmation.

That’s happened a few times before. Some e-mail providers are just fucky with PB. iirc the best way to fix it is to talk to Zizzy (check out the Contact page)

I was just warning all of you about something you already knew about. The one user who would have left the site would obviously be me. Since we all know how dangerous CF can be I’ve achieved what I’ve been trying to do and can finally stop posting about it (at least on this site).
 

 
I started off talking about hCaptcha then decided why not shit on Cloudflare since the guy running this site will read this. I could have sent you a private message (probably should have done that), but maybe I just forgot that was an option.

Mail server exploded.  
Give me a while to fix it. Mail servers are hard - I should probably just pay an external service to do it for me… Don’t really want to though.

In order to get rid of 500 error on filter search, execute  

Philomena.Elasticsearch.create_index!(Philomena.Filters.Filter)```  
in iex then execute  
`make -f ./index/filters.mk`  
in terminal

Email server fixed, again. Still probably won’t work with verizon or yahoo emails yet. Working on that later.
 
Default layout for anons and registered users is now left
 
Filters now work thanks to @Anonymous #EEFA
