This site will die soon, it’s too similar to derpi. The dnp policy is just as fucking bad as derpi and the rules, while being applied better, are still absolutely atrocious. Raptor is jumping shop back to derpi for some god unknown reason. It’s fucked.

I’m not jumping ship, I’m planning to help out both still but with different focuses. I actually was very upfront with the administration here about my plans to continue to help derpi.

I agree with OP.  
Alternatives that are just copies and even share staff with the original (doesn’t matter how good or bad), won’t work out. In the best case it will just be an off-site bunker for whenever derpibooru nukes itself again.  
I personally have more hope in booru-on-rails run twibooru and independent rainbooru.

i didn’t really get your motivation. You said in derpibooru discord that you want back because of the community and that you don’t care so much about the pics anyway. But if it is just about the community, can’t you be part of it without being mod?  
You don’t have to be mod to talk to people, i don’t really see the connection here.

It’s still too early to say whether or not the site will live or not.  
We’ll have a better idea once the thumbnails issue is resolved.

I don’t have to be a mod, you’re absolutely right. However, I’m good at handling this kind of stuff and I enjoy it. If I can make small differences from the inside I feel it’ll all be worth it. Both here and there. Even something as simple as really listening to someone can make a lot of difference.

I don’t blame you. I haven’t done much to gain the trust of anyone in all this. I just showed up and took charge in the middle of drama like a wartime general to try to fan the flames with limited success and ended up on everyone’s radar because of it.

I agree with this.  
And that could have avoided all the drama way easily than now.

Once all the old images are imported it will feel like home as more and more images will be uploaded here only.  
Mods being fags is a constant danger but it’s too soon to judge.  
As long as derpishits are denied any attention this site is worth existing.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous about this site and the other alt boorus long-term viability, but it’s early days yet and I’m very pleased to see a community popping up here.
 
I think the real test for Ponybooru will be whether or not regular users upload their art here once the site’s finished archiving.

I defo will, anywhere but Derpi. Ever since I did my shitty little comic for Marenheit I’ve been inspired to do a fair bit more…

But we need to be prepared if this website go the way of the derpy i recommend saving all of the art in you personal hard drive and computer and make you own personal archive dont trust other to do it for you

This site is running on a VE allowed 6 of the 8 threads of the iron underneath. If it was living on it’s intended home, it would have access to 32.
 
Since it seems to be such a problem, I’ll start an rsync, and do some processing elsewhere where I have more CPU power.

While I disagree that the site will die, I do think that the rules and DNP do need a fair bit of fixing up. IMO, after the mass uploading is finished, A site-wide discussion (as in a unique thread for every rule and one for the DNP) on these thing would be a good idea. Everyone is very on edge right now, the site is new and the staff have other issues to deal with, so giving everyone time to cool down would allow us all to more rationally think these things over.

For people who want to have a replacement that is as similar as possible to Derpibooru, Ponybooru will do just fine. For people who want a place where really anything goes, then Twibooru will probably be the best option.

Ponerpics seems to be a half-step between Ponybooru and Twibooru. They aren’t full anon, so there’s still the possibility of a community. But there’s also no DNP policy I can find or content restrictions outside of the legal minimum.

If it’s the same Twibooru I know, I don’t think can even compete to the other boorus by now.  
IMO the best options are this and ponerpics.
